Kendall Public School Newsletter
Term 4 Week 8 - 4th December 2020
Principal’s Message
Best wishes,
Alison Jenner
Mrs Cosgrove
I would like to begin this week’s newsletter by letting you know
that Mrs Cosgrove has decided to extend her
leave for Terms One and Two of next year. She appears to be
thoroughly relaxed and enjoying her leave. I hope
that she continues to enjoy her time and perhaps gets to travel
a little as well. I am very excited to say that I will
be continuing in Mrs Cosgrove’s position during that time.
Year 6 Orientation day
As the year draws to a close for our students, our year 6
students have been very busy indeed. Preparing for the
movement to high school can be an anxious and exciting time for
everyone. Our Year 6 students participated in
their Year 7 Orientation Day on Tuesday at their respective high
schools. From all accounts, the students spent
the day meeting new staff and becoming familiar with their new
schools. We have had many reports about the
wonderful behaviour of our Year 6 students during their visit.
Well done Year 6! We are proud of you all.
Stage 3 Diamond Head Camp
What a fantastic experience for our Stage three students this
week who attended the camp at Diamond Head.
Fun filled activities and wonderful memories will have been made
during their time at camp. Excursions and
camps are such a great opportunity for students to challenge
themselves, learn new skills and experience time
away from home building resilience and independence. I encourage
you to talk with your children about the fun
times, but also the times that challenged them and how they were
able to overcome those challenges.
Celebrating your child’s ability to adapt and learn from these
experiences are so valuable. I would like to take
this opportunity to thank Mrs Budai, Mr Sheridan, Miss Busch and
Miss Fuller for supporting the students and
giving up time with their families to provide such wonderful
opportunities for students at Kendall Public School.
Reports
Teachers are busy finalising school reports currently. Reports
will be sent home next Friday-the 11th December.
Visiting classes this week
This is always the best part of my day. Spending time with the
children in their classes or in the playground is a
highlight of my day. I thought that I would share some comments
that made me smile and reflect on how the
children see their day at their school. While visiting
Kindergarten this week, I asked “Who has had a super, super
day at school?” As all hands eagerly raised, I asked “What has
made it super, super?”………..”Measuring all the
light and heavy things in numeracy” and “all the writing we did
in literacy” were the responses. Wow they work
hard in Kindergarten!
I was also delighted to have 1/2S students visit my office with
their “Ozobots” today. Four little eager people
showing me how they programmed their Ozobots to follow
directions on a path was very interesting indeed.
Apparently my next visit to 1/2S will be a busy one as there are
many little teachers waiting to teach this Principal
how to make the “Ozobots “ dance. Technology lessons are so much
fun and so very engaging at Kendall Public
school.
I hope you all have a lovely week.
Best wishes,
Alison Jenner

High School Orientation Day
Earlier this week our Year six students had the exciting
opportunity to visit Camden
Haven High School and experience a day in the life of a high
school student.
They broke into groups and headed off around the school getting
to know the lay of the
land and what really happens in a science lab and the industrial
arts rooms. Everyone was
happy to report their biggest fear of getting lost did not
happen and they all returned
safely. It warmed out hearts to hear so many lovely reports from
the high school about
our students behaviour with a special mention for Zoey, Addison
and Jennifer who helped
Students from other schools feel included and welcomed into the
group.

CWA Competition
Congratulations to all our Stage 3 students who chose to
complete this years
CWA International studies assignment. The country of study this
year was Ec-
uador and students uncovered some interesting facts during their
research.
Including, the Amazon jungle and Galapagos Islands are located
there.
The word Ecuador means “equator’ in Spanish. Chocolate has a
long history in
Ecuador.
A special mention and congratulations to the place getters in
this competition,
and thank you to the Kendall branch of CWA who include us in
this
competition every year.

Stage 3 Camp
With all the challenges this year has brought us we were
extremely excited
that our Stage 3 students have been able to enjoy the end of the
year with a
much loved camp at Diamond Head.
They headed off on Wednesday with the sun
shinning and lots of smiling faces. Their days were
filled with fun activities and plenty of camp food
run by “Endless Summer Surf School” A little rain
didn't dampen their spirits to get in and enjoy all
the activities on offer.
I’m sure they will have plenty of camp stories to
share with their families over the weekend.
