May 2013 6 2 CAMPUS NEWS Student art show 2013 Feeney and Graham’s "Big Adventure" continued om page 1 knew he would bring another communi- ty-level connection to the story. “For an artist living in Bale Creek, it is hard enough to find work let alone find work doing something you want to do,” Graham said. “However, this last summer I was blessed with an opportunity to illustrate a book for one of the finest woman I have ever met.” Graham and Feeney be- gan collaborating ideas for the drawings. “ere are lile things I wanted in there that a child reading it wouldn’t know, but I do,” Feeney ex- plained as she pointed out a church lo- cated by where the twin girls’ parents live in New York. Skimming through the pag- es, Feeney explained other landmarks lo- cated throughout the area in which they reside. Taking her suggestions for the illus- trations, Graham began working in the spring of 2012 and much into Decem- ber. Upon comple- tion Feeney no- ticed Graham had a different vision than she would have drawn, but she was more than satisfied with his work. Once the drawings and writings were completed, Feeney visited 2 Moon Press, a vanity publisher on Michigan Av- enue in Marshall. 2 Moon Press charged Feeney $2,000 to print her first book, a price Feeney was glad included free post- ing on Amazon.com. Feeney explained that 2 Moon Press Mosaic winners Dakota Roberts Staff Writer Mosaic poetry awards were recently judged by poet Lynn Paison. Aſter re- viewing some very talented poetry, Pai- son awarded e Envelope by Brian Noell with the 1st place prize. Coming in 2nd with Pangaea was Tiffany atcher and rounding out the podium was Taylor ompson with Just to be a Lady. Backing up the poetry awards, Mo- saic’s prose section also had some stiff competition. Taking the grand prize was Tonya Hilliker with e Holes, the Buck- ets, and the Green Beans. Adelle Pouliot took home silver with Filthy Snow on the Curbside. Anthony Allred with Death Penalty wrapped up the 3rd position. ~Dakota Roberts is a sports writer, obviously. was so impressed by Graham’s work on Big Adventure they offered him a job illus- trating other books and novels authors bring in without an illustrator already designated. “I know that working with Ms. Fee- ney was not only a blessing,” omas said, “but an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life.” Her experience has been one she en- joyed so much, she has draſted a second book and began thinking of a third. e third will be based on an experience from Feeney’s own childhood. “ere are so many levels of wonder- ful with his book,” Feeney said. “I can’t pay for their college tuition,” Feeney said of her grandchildren, “but I can give them this legacy to cherish.” Peaches and Posey’s Big Adventure is available on Amazon.com. ~Lacy Janousek loves adventures.
