A small town celebration

Each year we choose a theme for the parade -this year it was FEELING GROOVY

On kelleys islandGolf carts replace floats

A poor shot of a great float.

The Island Singers added a musical touch.

Everyone was feeling groovy

Then came the classic cars!

Finally, the end

The parade winners accept their trophy

there was the food;

The hard working volunteers;

And the pig roast.

The love fest turned into a food fest

Jim Zeller (kila president) introduced the North Coast Band

Young and old enjoyed the music, laverne can attest to that!

Only the most skilled won at the beer slide said Drew algase

And we have a winner!

Make that TWO winners

But wait, there‟s more

Yes, a Twinkie Eating Contest

Directed by Janet Killam

the crowd went wild as contestants dug in

now that‟s a lot of twinkiesto eat hands free

Rats, I was too little to enter

donna algase claimed the award for “Best pie”

The Silent Auction raised over $2000 for the local VFW

Baskets came from almost every island business

June Campbell co-ordinatedover 30 bid packages.

Back to the Wild held their wildlife show

Featuring a rescued Bald Eagle

An injured Red Tail Hawk

And an owl

While a bubble table

A few hula hoops

And a Bounce Castle

kept the kids, and some adults busy

There was shopping for everyone at Leather Designs

Last on the schedule was the Pet Competition

Mike brought Allie a Border Collie

Oeeda dressed up Charlie

13 year old Tippy was, perhaps, a little embarrassed

But went on to perform brilliantly withJason &his dad (not in costume)

The competitors compared notes

Leslie Korenko announced while Sophi & Bailey performed

A trick – well performed lucy plays dead when “shot” By joan

These dogs trained hard for the event

Some dressed like their peoplelike Bonnie and Miss Lily Belle

Yankee did a hula in a coconut bra for Maryann

The judges had a tough decision to make

the show closed with a poignant moment as one little girl showed off

her prized „pet‟
