Suzanne M. Susan Johnson, E-RYT 200—Susan is the owner of InsideOut Yoga in White Stone. A student of yoga since 1999, she completed her yoga teacher training in 2008 at Yoga Source in Richmond under the directorship of Ashtanga and Iyengar instructors, Jennifer Elliot and Sandra Pleasants. This training reinforced her love of creative movement, and precise alignment. Although she has studied with amazing instructors such as Annie Carpenter, David Swenson, Eoin Finn, Jason Crandell, Greg Nardi and David Keil, her principle sources of instruction are her personal practice, and what she learns daily from her students. She is thrilled to be the chairman of the Kekoka Yoga Retreat for the sev-enth year. Susan’s website is insideoutyoga.org.

Jenny Landry, E-RYT 200—Jenny discovered Iyengar yoga in 1998 and quickly became hooked because of its many physical, meditative and spiritual benefits. Later, seeking a more fluid and athletic challenge, she began prac-ticing power yoga and completed a Baptiste Power Yoga Teacher Training in 2004. She earned her 200 hour teacher training certification in 2011 at Chesapeake Hot Yoga and now owns Serenity Yoga in Lancaster where she offers a variety of classes, private instruction and Thai Yoga Therapy. Believing that everyone can benefit from yoga, her goal is to encourage students to develop a practice that is meaningful, sustainable, joyful and healing. Judy Knight, RYT 200—Yoga Works certified in 2009 with Anne Van Valkenburg, Judy continues her exploration of

Yoga in Richmond County. Teaching at the Richmond County YMCA, Rappahannock Community College and private

Diana Jamison, Psychotherapist and Artist—As a psychotherapist, Diana engages in the art of listening, reflect-ing, exploring and interacting in a way that improves the well being of others. As an artist, she uses similar strate-gies that support her internal creative process and improves her own sense of well being. Using both skill sets, Diana teaches no fail techniques to guide others in a self soothing, creative process that results in a pleasing work or art.

Tashana Garnier, CMT, is the owner and massage therapist of Heal Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, LLC. She practices the art of massage from a place of love and compassion and strives to create a nurturing environ-ment for each client that graces her table. Every massage is tailored to meet her clients' individual needs as she be-lieves "every body has the power to heal". Merthia I. Haynie, DPT—Dr. Haynie is a native of Northumberland County, where she grew up on her family farm. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Hampton University and a Doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. In 2012, she received a Certificate of Advanced Practice in the Hand and Upper Quarter from Drexel University. Throughout her career, she has worked in a variety of physical therapy settings in-cluding outpatient, home health and skilled nursing. In 2014 after almost 10 years of practice, she decided to open Abilities Abound Physical Therapy in Callao, VA. Her practice treats multiple diagnoses through offering physical ther-apy, massage therapy, nutritional weight loss management, personal training, holistic wellness services and fitness classes. She has also served as adjunct faculty at the Virginia University of Lynchburg’s Dawn campus, where she taught Human Anatomy along with Health and Wellness. Dr. Haynie believes in offering her clients a personalized comprehensive treatment approach that focuses on treating the whole person.

Atma Kaur Khalsa (B.S., Biology), has been enjoying teaching and practicing Kundalini Yoga and Medita-tion, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, since 1977, and has practiced yoga since she was 10 years old (1970). She is grate-ful to have personally trained with Yogi Bhajan for many years. Atma Kaur is an IKYTA certified Kundalini Yoga teacher and a graduate of the Radiant Child Yoga Program Levels 1, 2, and 3. She is a minister of Sikh Dharma and codirector of Guru Ram Das Ashram in Newport News, VA.

Wyatt Portz, RYT 200—Meditation has been a regular part of Wyatt’s life since the late 1960s, and his Hatha Yoga practice started soon after. Under the instruction of Iffet Padmaakshi Cochran, he graduated from the Karuna Yoga program offered through 4025 Yoga and Wellness in Richmond. His main interest is encouraging people to develop their yoga practice to include pranayama and meditation, which can help anyone overcome anxiety, resentment, anger, grief, and mental attachments by increasing energy, awareness, and allowing a direct perception of the wholeness of life.

Cliff Schelling, MS, CPPC – Cliff is a Certified Professional Personal Coach, the President of Performance Improve-ment, Inc. and a YOGA practitioner. He has an MS in Human Resources Development and has completed the Pro-gram for Specialists in Organization Development at the NTL Institute for Applied Behavioral Science. He has con-sulted and coached executives and their teams throughout Asia, Europe, North America and South America. His pas-sion and purpose is helping people achieve business results, professional competence and personal fulfillment.

Caroline Shifflett, Certified Laughter Yoga Leader—Caroline completed the training for Laughter Yoga leader at Yogaville in Buckingham, VA in 2009. She has had the pleasure to present Laughter Yoga to several organizations in this community including the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Rappahannock and the Bay Center for Spiritual Development. Laughter Yoga is Caroline's side gig while building couch cushion forts, Lego castles and monsters, reading aloud, and outdoor adventuring with her 5 year old son, Billy.

Miriam Maloney is co-owner , with her husband Charlie, of Dayspring Farm. Dayspring is an 18 acre mixed horti-cultural operation with animals that serves a 180 member CSA. Miriam has nurtured a life long interest in body-soul healing. Her interest in Vedanta began in college with studying the Bhagavadgeeta. While a divinity school stu-dent, she trained as a hospital chaplain. Later she worked with abused women and families with disabled chil-

dren. Now tending the farm and caring for grandchildren offer plenty of opportunities to be grateful.

Joe Miller has been studying, training and teaching Martial Arts since 1984. He currently teaches Tai Chi and a sister art called Hsing-I Chuan at the YMCA. The rest of his spare time is spent with his beautiful wife, two boys and two dogs.

Stephanie Reeves, CMT—Stephanie has been providing massage in Kilmarnock, VA since 2008. She is currently located at 279 N. Main Street, Suite C beside Pure and Simple Family Chiropractic. Each massage is designed to meet your individual needs. Stephanie specializes in deep tissue and sports therapy massage, helping people allevi-ate pain and perform at their best. David Scarbrough, PhD, RYT 200—David graduated from teacher training at the Satchidananda Ashram (Yogaville) in 1991 and has been teaching yoga in the Northern Neck ever since. His "Total Yoga" style encourages students to recognize their strengths and limitations and develop an inner sense of how best to stretch, strengthen and relax. Liz Seigler is a former PE teacher who started practicing yoga six years ago. As a sw im coach and runner,

she has found the practice to be uniquely beneficial to her athletic pursuits. She has attended KYR for three years

and loves how the weekend creates and reinforces connectivity. She is the co-owner of Barefoot Appraisals in

Reedville.

Audrey Stewart, L.Ac., MAOM - Audrey is the owner of 5 Star Oriental Medicine for seven years, mom of Evelyn for six years, practitioner of Taiji and Qigong for 17 years, pet mom to Sassafras for two years, etc. and to be contin-ued… She’s offered acupuncture for several years at KYR but took off last year as an attendee and had the best time! She’s looking forward to offering acupuncture at KYR again!

Roxanne Warren, RYT 200, started practicing yoga in 2004 while serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in East Africa. The benefits of flexibility, awareness, mindfulness, strength, kept her committed to a yoga practice. She found that yoga complimented her passion for long-distance running and ultimately, she completed teacher training in Ubud, Indonesia in 2013. Roxanne loves being a student of yoga and practicing with as many different teachers as possible on her travels. Roxanne balances a career in Washington DC and living in Montross, VA where she runs a little yoga studio. [email protected]

Shelle Taylor, ERYT-200—Shelle has been an instructor and trainer for 28 years in Glen Allen, VA at American Family and ACAC for 2. She added Yoga to her life in 2008 by completing the 200 training at Glenmore Yo-ga. Teaching yin, power yoga and vinyasa flow weekly help to balance life. Amanda Ward, a high school and collegiate athlete, is mostly self-taught when it comes to health and fit-ness. A six-time marathoner, she works on her own fitness as much as she invests in the fitness of others. She obtained her National Certification for personal trainers in 2010/2015 and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. She endeavors to make health and wellness a realistic part of everyone's life through her role s as a self-employed online health coach and a personal trainer at the Middlesex YMCA. Amanda believes in meet-ing people where they are and challenging their perspective of potential by addressing all areas of wellness: food, fitness, family and faith. She lives in Middlesex County with her husband, Jacob, and 4-year-old daughter, Piper Elliott.

Becky Waters, M.Ed., RYT 200, YWI (Yoga Warrior International Certified Instructor)—Becky is a retired educator who taught preK-12, worked as a building level administrator, and ultimately became a teacher educa-tor. As a consultant trainer, she trained teachers and administrators in 43 of the 50 states. Becky discovered the benefits of Yoga several years ago as she was searching for relief from chronic back pain, finding that yoga is much more than contorting the body into poses – it is a way of life blending mind, body, and spirit. She completed her 200-hour training at ZYA in Newport News and has recently completed the YogaWarriorsInternational™ training, hoping to take her Yoga practice to a higher level working with wounded warriors and caretakers. Becky adapts her classes to meet the needs of her students, focusing on helping students find their center and improve their strength, flexibility, and balance.

April Wooten has been the yoga teacher at the Greater West Point YMCA since 2013. She began practic-ing yoga 10 years ago as an alternative to physical therapy for her cerebral palsy. She completed her yoga teacher training at Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica in 2012. April returns each year to yoga school to participate in an advanced teacher training to deepen her practice and curiosity as a teacher. She currently lives in her hometown of Barhamsville where she and her sister facilitate donation based classes for the community in their home grown stu-dio.

Amy Wright Maloney, RYT 200—Amy has been practicing yoga since October 2004, and teaching since July 2007. She completed her 200 hour teacher training certification with YogaWorks in March 2010 under the instruc-tion of Anne Van Valkenburg. Amy integrates safe alignment, flow of movement, and connection to breath and the inner body. She believes that yoga is for everyone—all you need is the willingness to try.

Troy R. Wyne, CMT—Troy Wyne has been a Massage Therapist and Personal Trainer since 1995. He focuses main-ly on Neuromuscular Reeducation (NMR) and various other postural correcting techniques to reduce pain or improve performance.
