-Plot-

• This book really focuses on growing up and how hard it is to find your self when you are in middle school and so many changes are going on. Moving to a new town, having no religion, and starting puberty late is no fun, and to Margaret its real life, this book is something every teenage girl can relate to.

Why was your book challenged?

• My book talks about sexuality and religion all throughout the book.

• “But its not just the books under fire now that worry me. It’s the books that will never be written. The books that will never be read. And all due to the fear of censorship. As always young readers will be the real losers.” -Judy Blume

My reaction……..• This book sounds like

a really good book. • I think it teaches girls

about growing up.• I don’t really

understand why somebody would want to challenge a book that helps more than it hurts.

•Blubber•Then again, Maybe I won’t

•Deenie•Forever

•And much more!!

Email From Judy!Hi Kaylee,Thanks for your message. Everything I have to say about

censorship is on my website. I’ve edited a new book – Places I Never Meant to Be, Original Stories By Censored Writers. It includes an introduction in which I share my personal experiences with censorship and you can read it on my website. Each of the other contributors also tells of his/her experiences with book banning. Author royalties from the sale of this book will be donated to the National Coalition Against Censorship. The best way to fight censorship is to take a stand, talk about it with students, teachers, friends, and family. Awareness is the first step.
