DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU MONDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2017 (PAGE 7) Excelsior Correspondent UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: Udhampur Police today foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 20 ani- mals besides arresting two smugglers. Based on a reliable infor- mation regarding illegal trans- portation of bovine animals, police party of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Inspector Sanjeev Gupta, laid a naka at Jakhani NHW and inter- cepted a truck bearing registra- tion number JK02AB-8179, which was on way from Jammu towards Kashmir. During thorough search of the truck, 12 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in this vehicle in very cruel man- ner. The accused bovine smug- gler namely Ashraf Naik son of Badar Naik of Gudiyan was arrested on the spot. All bovine animals were rescued and vehi- cle was also seized. . In this regard, a case FIR No. 493/2017 U/S 188/RPC, 3 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Udhampur. Meanwhile, in another suc- cess, police parties of Police Post Tikri, led by SI Sanjeet Sharma and PS Rehmbal, led by SHO, Insp Sanjeev Chib, inter- cepted two Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration number JK02BU- 4542 and other with- out registration number. During the search of said vehicles, eight bovine animals were found ille- gally loaded in these vehicles. Driver of one of the vehicles, namely Abdul Rashid son of Abdul Gani of Maitra, was arrested on the spot while driv- er of second vehicle managed to flee. All the bovine animals were rescued and both the vehi- cles were also seized. In this connection, a case FIR No. 170/2017 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been regis- tered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is going on. Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 22: The Central Body of All India Federation of Diploma Engineers (AIFODE) visited Jammu & Kashmir to interact with the Diploma Engineers of the State. A meeting was convened by the All J&K Diploma Engineers Association, Jammu at Company Bagh under the presi- dentship of Er Upinder Singh in which a large number of Diploma Engineers of all the engineering wings participated. While addressing, Er. Upinder Singh apprised the members about the issues con- fronting the Diploma Engineers of the State, which include entry level grade, removal of stagna- tion of the Diploma Engineers at the level of junior engineer, maintenance of cadre strength especially at the level of AEE & XEN, and fixed Traveling Allowance which is only Rs 30/= per month. He informed about the steps initiated and the assurance accorded to the DEA in the recent meeting held at Srinagar Secretariat by the Deputy Chief Minister in pres- ence of Chief Secretary and administrative heads of all the engineering wings to resolve the demands of Diploma Engineers. The upgraded blood bank was need of the hour in view of the increased patient flow in the GMC and also as per the requirements of the Medical Council of India and NACO. The blood bank in GMC, Jammu also serves as Regional Training Center in the State that trains the necessary manpower from all three regions of the State to ensure better upkeep, safety and usages of the blood in their respective institutions. Under the initiative, ultra- modern equipment related to the safety/storage of blood, ade- quate space for adding new machinery and training has been created in the upgraded blood bank. Now the blood bank will be more reliable to meet the emergencies and increased need of patients not in Jammu only, but to feed other peripheral insti- tutions on need based. Excelsior Correspondent MENDHAR, Oct 22: MLA Mendhar and senior leader of National Conference (NC) Javed Rana today appealed all the PDP legislators to follow their con- science and resign from the rul- ing party which has brought miseries for the people of Jammu and Kashmir by dividing all the regions. "The resignation of Vikramaditya Singh from PDP has raised question mark on the functioning of the Government and its intention has come under question mark. The Government which was expected to work for all three regions equally has been allegedly dividing the State with its divisive policies," he alleged. In a press statement, Rana said that PDP-BJP Government has created a divide among the regions and it has given rise to mistrust in all the regions. "Communal politics in Jammu has further widened the gaps between the two regions which remained dependent eco- nomically and socially on each other since centuries," said Rana. MLA Mendhar was con- cerned over deteriorating law- and-order condition in Kashmir valley where people fear their own people suspecting them as 'braid choppers.' "Recently, tourists, and non- locals were caught by the vigi- lantes in parts of Kashmir sus- pecting them as braid choppers. People have started taking law in their hands because there is no Government on ground and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has lost complete control over her Government," he alleged. Being founder of Jammu and Kashmir, the Government should not have any objection,” said Manjit Singh while addressing a meeting here at a village Ranjari. The meeting was organized by retired banker Inderpal Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Manjit Singh said, “We should give our tribute to the Maharaja Gulab Singh for was known for Dogra rule in Jammu and Kashmir.” Referring to the instability within Government, he said, BJP which beats its chest for Jammu’s rights has now compromised on all the issues being faced by the people of the region. “There is supremacy of one region. Social media use increases risk of mental health problems: DAK Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Oct 22: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today said excessive use of Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites increases the risk of mental health prob- lems. The DAK president, Dr Nisar- ul-Hassan said the frequent use of social media negatively impacts your mental health. "Research from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine found the more time you spend on social media, the more likely you are to be depressed," he said. He said participants who checked social media more fre- quently were 2.7 times more like- ly to be depressed than those who checked less frequently. "Those who reported using seven to eleven social media platforms had more than three times the risk of depression and anxiety than those who used zero to two platforms," said Dr Nisar. The DAK president said peo- ple on social media compare themselves with others and they feel inadequate. "Comparisons tend to lower self-esteem which puts them in a negative mood," he said, adding that "if you don't receive likes or re-tweets, you feel at loss and negative com- ments on your post makes you feel bad". "Social media provides a new means through which people are bullied. This has resulted in tragic events like self-harm and sui- cide," said Dr Nisar. He said social media has tremendous addictive potential. "Handing your child a smart- phone is like giving them a gram of cocaine," said the head of DAK, adding: "They get glued to their phones and take them to bed and keep scrolling through social media feeds all-night." The local people sighted the dead body of stag lying near the forest area with wounds on its neck. They told this reporter that the wounds indicate that a hunter might have attacked on it as these wounds on the neck of the stag might have been of hunting. The Range Officer of Wild Life Sanctuary Kathua, Bishamber Singh said that “we have recov- ered the body of stag and a team of doctors is coming for post mortem. After the verification of all events a case will be regis- tered in this regard and investi- gation started. He said no one would be spared whosoever will be responsible for the attack. It may be recalled that simi- lar incident had taken place few months earlier when one stag was also found dead mysterious- ly at Jasrotia Wild Life Range. The deer was targeted by local hunter with gun shot.
