Reflection

I learned that there are very diverse styles of design for magazine covers. There are very specific types of magazines within each genre. I didn’t know that they had so many different types like scuba, motorcycle, and skiing magazines. The design of the covers can also be very different. The layouts were varied between genres.

The magazine is about how to plan a vacation by giving suggestions for accommodations, restaurants, activities, and locations to go to

The target audience is upper-middle class males or females over 25

Some of the articles included information about specific destinations and what to eat, do, and where to stay there, vacation rentals, the best deals on a vacation, and the best new restaurants

The central images are generally pictures of scenery or a model in a destination where a person would vacation. The destinations can be beaches, mountains, cities, or a specific landmark

The photos are generally taken outdoors. They can be taken at any destination that shows off a unique location. Some are taken in hotels or near tourist attractions

The masthead changes color with each issue. There is usually a puff and a number that points out there will be a list of something. The layout changes, but there are always coverlines on the left and right thirds

This is my favorite cover image and it is the most inspirational to me because it is very simple but the colors compliment each other and the image is unique. It was taken on a beach and I am planning on doing photoshoots on the beach
