Garden Party. The winning bid gets one class of choice – and is
automatically enrolled in the class before registration begins.
WAITLIST: If your student did not get into a class because it was
full and placed on the waitlist, KCC offers the top two (2) names
first rights of refusal for that class. If on multiple waitlists,
the student only gets one (1) class. There will be no waitlist for
Carpentry this session, since Sandy will not be teaching in the
Spring. OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE: The Oversight Committee consists of
Hilltop parents who meet regularly with KCC, share insights and
opinions, review new instructors and classes and serve as liaisons
to the parent community. Members on this committee receive
pre-enrollment privileges: 1 class per child per session.

some practical math. When your project is completed, if it's a
paddle boat, a marble maze, a birdhouse, a xylophone, or another
item you come up with, it's always a great feeling to take it home
to play with or use, or give as a special gift.

Spanish Through Art and Play
Instructor: Chara Prescott Mondays 1:30-2:30 for
Kindergartners
Mondays 2:30-3:40 for Grades 1-3 $180 (minimum 8 students)
Bienvenidos Todos! The Classroom Matters After School Spanish
program is a learning journey for elementary school kids. Our
program is an opportunity to engage kids in learning about the
Spanish language and the cultures of the countries where Spanish is
spoken. Using best practices from a variety of second-language
teaching strategies, we provide a foundation of basic Spanish
phrases and vocabulary. Through movement, song, music, art, and
reading and listening activities, our students learn to speak,
read, write, and love the Spanish language. No previous knowledge
of the Spanish language is necessary. Curiosity and a willingness
to learn are! Chara recently moved back to the East Bay from the
Sacramento area and is pleased to once again call Berkeley home.
Chara lived in a few different places before settling in the Bay
Area, including Arkansas, North Carolina, Illinois, and Texas. She
is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and can speak conversational
French. Her passions include cooking/catering, live music, hanging
out with her family, and especially working with children. Chara is
always excited to take on new challenges and is constantly amazed
by her three incredible children.
