Location and nearby Fascinations Gadag is the head quarter of Gadag District located in the central part of Karnataka. It is 56 km from Hubballi and well-connected through air (Hubballi airport), rail and bus routes. Gadag is a main agriculture center and played a significant role in the co-operative sector. Gadag is the place of the great literate Kumara Vyasa who wrote the valuable literary work 'Gadugina Bharatha'. The historic place Lakundi is part of Gadag District which is a Karmabhumi of Daana Chinthamani Attimabbe who patronaged the great poet Ranna. It has famous temples which are known for their architecture and historic significance and a Bhishma lake with a statue of Shri Basaveshwara, a 12 century social reformer.
