Charlie’s Chat
It has been quite some time since Charlie’s Chat has been in the Chatter. For those of you who don’t know what Charlie’s Chat is, here is a brief history. Charlie Ellis was a great friend of everyone, most importantly, one of Carl’s good friends who came to work for him many years ago. Charlie was one of the hardest working people to ever grace the gravel roads of Poor Farmer’s. Therefore, we decided to dedicate “Charlie’s Chat” to Mr. Ellis in honor of all he did for Poor Farmer’s. This month, Charlie’s Chat is dedicated to “The Minton’s”. Sam, Amy, Blake and Samantha have been at Poor Farmer’s RV since September 2014. Since their arrival at the world famous Poor Farmer’s RV, Amy and her clan have camped in three different sites with three different coaches. At one time I think they owned more RVs than we did. Now they are down to one coach, one site, and one great summer.
Their son, Blake, attends Miami East Middle School and is going into the 8th grade. Blake enjoys running around with his friends at the campground and aggravating his mother from morning till night. Their daughter, Samantha, would like you to think that she is a sweet innocent young lady. However, she will not share her sour cream and onion Pringles with me. There was also a time when she was trying to get her dad, Sam, to shoot me. Luckily for me, she’s not that spoiled. Samantha is a tough little lady, which is why Jaiden likes her so much. Amy, if you don’t know already, is working in the Poor Farmer’s parts store full time. She is very helpful, as well as very polite to our customers… she has to be, because most of them are her family. I swear, every other person that comes into that store is related to her in some way. It really brings new meaning to the term “Family Business”. Amy’s husband, Sam, has worked construction for, well… forever. His full time job consists mainly of delegating to others what needs done. His part time job has been working on his campsite, which I must say is looking great lately and in contention for a future “Site of the Month”. The Minton’s have been a great addition to Poor Farmer’s. We got a man who takes care of his property, a boy who aggravates his parents on a daily basis, a beautiful young lady who won’t share her potato chips with me, and a lovely lady whose patience is being tested every day in the parts store. All kidding aside, Amy is doing a great job of hiding the insanity created by working at Poor Farmer’s. The rest of us have given up on hiding our crazy so she will be our one hope for levity. Amy’s thoughts… “God help us all!”
Jim and Barb have been with Poor Farmer’s for three years. When they first started camping they had one of the biggest sites in the park. Now they have the nicest. Thank You Jim and Barb for making your site a “sight to see”! Your talents really show through in the artwork surrounding your site. Have fun with your woodcarvers this month!
