rockets barrage from Gaza strip and took care of most of the
wounded civilians from Ashdod and other attacked areas in the last
conflict
6. Times of Israel, reported at the beginning of Operation
Protective Edge, July 9, 2014 Rehovot hospital moves patients to
fortified area: The Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot begins
transferring patients from its cardiology and intensive care wards
to fortified rooms in the wake of the uptick in rocket fire from
the Gaza Strip. At the beginning of the spring 2014 unrest in the
Ukraine, Kiev citizens in great numbers gathered in their
'Independence Square' to protest in support of democracy for the
Ukraine. Pro-Russian government forces fired upon the civilians,
many being cut down. An Israeli doctor from Kaplan was visiting
family in Kiev, providing medical assistance before the shots were
fired. When pro-democracy demonstrators were taking lethal fire,
she called the Rehovot hospital CEO to request for the seriously
wounded survivors to be airlifted to Israel. An initial 10 were
airlifted to the Kaplan Medical Center, and throughout the year
additional casualties have been flown in.
