New employees can conveniently watch the videos and have time to process the information prior to meeting with their regional trainer for the remainder of the KIDS training. Early viewing will also benefit conversations between new staff and supervisors. KIPS training will continue as an instructor-led training. Regional trainers are available to help guide new employees through their training requirements as needed. Facilitated Discussions are bi-weekly opportunities for new child welfare staff to talk over relevant work matters and glean insights from experienced staff. Facilitated by Prevention and Protection Services (PPS) trainers, alongside experienced staff, new workers can discuss real situations and practical solutions regarding topics: • Ethics and confidentiality • Worker safety • Meeting with resistance • Time management NEW! • Self-care • Safety and risk assessment • Active case review New employees are required to complete two of these trainings: Meeting with Resistance and Worker Safety, prior to taking a caseload. The remaining Facilitated Discussions must be completed within six-months of hire.
