Three Main Issues

• Park Closure Hours• Dogs in the Park• Two Mango Trees

Reasons Park Hours needed

• This is a passive neighborhood park where there are no facilities or lights.

• Two of the three signs were erected three years ago to try to inform the public that there are rules to the use of the park. Mostly ignored daily.

• Park surrounded by Yacht Club Terrace homes

Dogs in the Park

• Almost every day there are people who ignore the laws by bringing their Dogs to the Park

Mango Trees and Pickers

• Constantly dealing with families of people coming into the park to climb or throw sticks into the two Mango trees, leaving trash and/or baby diapers starting around at 5 am until after dark…..This is a constant problem every 6 months and longer.

• The smell of rotting mangos is an issue as well, from the ones that just fall out of the trees to the ones that rot from being discarded by people having eaten and just throw on the ground. This intern draws flies and an unhealthly environment.

Mango Pickers

• Several times people have climb into the trees, going as high as they can, breaking off branches and just leaving trash behind. Not to mention what would happen if they fell out.

• Sometimes 20-40 people show up – extended families etc….

Recommended Solutions to the City and County Parks Dept

• Park Hours – Closed Dusk to Dawn

• Dogs in the Park – Kaneohe Police patrols being aware of the park laws and to stop and warn people and/or issue tickets.

• Mango Trees - Both these trees recommended be removed.
