Kindergarten - Claire RossThis week, we farewell Mr Turner as his placement comes to an end. We thank him for his commitment and dedication to our classroom for the past six weeks.Thank you to Miss Daley for taking the class with Mr Turner today as I attended my final Reading Recovery professional development for the year. I will also be absent on Friday, Mrs Gerhardy will be taking the class with Mr Turner. On Friday, we will also welcome the pre-school students from 12:30-2pm for another transition session. If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child into Kindergarten next year please pass on this information. The session will be run by Mrs Brand in my absence. It has been pleasing to see the students’ extend their swimming skills during the intensive swimming program, thank you to Denise, Jess, Paige V & Paige P for for their work instructing the students in the water this year.As the weather warms up please remember to send students with a drink bottle filled with water only. Homework this week involves; writing an acrostic poem as well as spelling and reading and news plan activities. Have a lovely week.

Year 1 / Year 2Emma Byles / Sarah SheatherWow, week 7. Term 4 is passing us very quickly. There are many things happening on our school calendar – please keep check in kalori for important dates to remember. This week intensive swimming lessons continue for most students. Please ensure your child has their towel, swimmers, hat and drink bottle to take to the pool each day. We will be eating our lunch on return to school. This week we will be publishing some of our information reports. Our spelling focus is the revision of spelling high frequency words and in maths we are investigating fractions and number patterns. * Home Reading (10 minutes), Spelling Activities, Maths Challenges*

Year 2 / Year 3Jolonna Brand / Justin GrahamCongratulations to all sports award winners from last week. This week is the last week for intensive swimming. This week is also the last week for homework.Remember that it is a very busy time of the year with lots of things happening so keep working hard until the end of term.

Year 4 / Year 5 - Mary ListonHome Learning went out yesterday again and is not due back until Friday this week, which is different to what it states on worksheet. Please remember to bring in all awards as they will not be many more assemblies for this year, definitely one in Week 8 but may not be one in Week 10 due to Presentation Night in Week 9.In Geography we are working hard on mapping skills and geographical facts. Many students knowledge in this area is limited and I encourage families and parents to discuss these features as well as places and where Australia fits into the Worlds with their children.Well done to the students who have participated in intensive swimming in our class, there have been great reports of your progress.A reminder to wear full band uniform for the band concert next Tuesday which includes black pants, black shoes and black socks.

Year 5 / Year 6 - Joanne MalmoThe students have recently received two notes regarding the Creative Arts Night at Billabong High School and the Year 6 farewell dinner. Billabong Creative Arts Night: All Year 6 students are asked to attend as they will be preforming their dance from Matilda. Some students from Years 4/5/6 will be playing their instruments in small ensembles. The Riverina Choir students will be singing some of their repertoire from their Sydney performance. If you are unable to take your child to the evening, please indicate this on the return form.Year 6 farewell: The Year 5 students will host the evening at the Henty Community Club on Monday 12th December at 6:00pm. The Year 5 students and guests of the year 6 students are required to pay for their meal and the P&C will pay for the year 6 students’ meals. The year 6 students are welcome to order the lamb or chicken mignon (will be delivered to tables alternately) if they wish. To assist with catering, please return the note ASAP with your meal preference. This is always a great night and the Year 5 students enjoy preparing the venue and waiting on the guests in the evening. The Year 6 students are allowed to invite up to two guests who will also enjoy a disco after the meal and formalities. All family members and friends are invited to our annual band concert next Tuesday 29th November at 10:30 under the COLA. A reminder to wear full band uniform for the concert which includes black pants, black shoes and black socks.
