Kaizen Fluid Systems Our world of water
Kaizen Fluid Systems is a US LLC Corporation that has the license rights for
many patented technologies with exclusive distribution rights for many
others. Kaizen has combined our technologies to create our Advanced
Water Purification System that we designed specifically for the Oil and Gas
Industry.
INTRODUCTION
Kaizen's systems are fully scalable and have the
capability of purifying virtually any discharge stream
of frac fluid or produced water as generated within
the oil and gas industry with the minimum size being
50 gpm.
In many cases there is no need to remove TDS or other
components found in produced or frac water, for that
reason we can deploy only the required pieces of
equipment to the site for the specific needs of the
producer. Kaizen can also supply complete systems
capable of purifying high (over 350,000 ppm) TDS
produced water to potable standards. We can
precondition water before, after and during frac
operations or process a fixed volume of produced
water at any site and make it suitable for it’s
designated use. The electromechanical process
typically reconfigures undesirable compounds into
useful products and generates no toxic waste stream.
INTRODUCTION
By utilizing various technologies licensed to Kaizen Fluid Systems,
Kaizen has developed the most advanced systems for cleaning
contaminated water. Kaizen uses a process that is classified as
Electro-Mechanical. Our Process converts extracted solids, liquids
and /or gasses into useful commodities. This virtually eliminates
the need for any type of disposal. Our System is successful in
removing or destroying all chemicals, but not limited to Silts,
Clays, Chlorides, Bacteria, Fungus, and Parasites. Kaizen then
returns pure, clean and clear water that is of potable standards
which may be used for many additional purposes.
THE PROCESS
THE PROCESSKaizen has combined our advanced technologies that
have been in use in many applications for over thirty years
to create our Advanced Water Recycling System. Kaizen is
successful at water/solid separation and the breakdown as
well as the conversion of toxic compounds found
suspended in water, this is then turned into useful products
in a continuous flow throughput that is available to the Oil
and Gas Industry. Kaizen's process will handle any volume
by using larger and smaller treatment trains used in
tandem to achieve the desired outcome. The
concentration of the contaminants will affect the speed at
which any specific treatment train can process; however
there is no limitation on the chemical toxicity or TDS
concentration with the process. This is a unique feature as
all other systems are restricted in most cases by TDS levels.
We have successfully treated waters with TDS of over
350,000 ppm and returned water with a TDS of below 200
ppm (Canadian and US drinking water standard is 500
ppm), chemicals and metals in concentrations at a
fraction of those permitted for potable water, pure
chlorides suitable for commercial use and pure brine water
for reuse in the industry.
Fracking Fluid: Fracking Fluid is a mixture of water, sand, and chemicals
that are injected deep below the surface to fracture the rock and liberate
the natural gas. A typical fracking operation uses between 1 and 8 million
gallons of water. In an average 4 million gallon injection, typically 20,000
gallons of chemical are used. The water must be of good quality to work
with these chemicals.
Current cost of procuring fresh water for a frac varies from area to area and
distance the water needs to be transported. Kaizen's System can be located
on site which will reduce and/or eliminate the trucking and all of the disposal
cost by reusing produced and frac water returns from wells on the pad or
located close by. This will reduce the operation cost while mitigating
environmental risks.
PRODUCTS WE PROCESS
Flowback Water: After water is introduced in the fracking stage, a portion of
that is returned to the surface over the next days and weeks. Initially, its
composition resembles that of the injected fracking fluids, but as its
residence time increases, its chemistry transitions to the composition of
formation water naturally within the shale. Once this change occurs, the
water is classified as produced water and typically has a higher TDS level
requiring a need of disposal.
The current cost for disposal of flow-back and produced water in North
Dakota, Pennsylvania and other locations where disposal wells are a
distance away can by cut by more than 50%. The use of our treatment
systems not only mitigates environmental liabilities but is a significant cost
reducer.
PRODUCTS WE PROCESS
Produced water is water trapped in
underground formations that is brought to
the surface along with the oil and gas.
Because the water has been in contact with
the hydrocarbon-bearing formation for
centuries, it contains some of the chemical
characteristics of the formation and the
hydrocarbon itself. It may include water
from the reservoir, water injected into the
formations, and any chemicals added
during the production and treatment
process. Produced water is also called
“brine” and “formation water”.
PRODUCED WATER
The major constituents of concern in
produced water are:
• Salt Content (salinity, total dissolved
solids up to 350,000 ppm , electrical
conductivity)
• Oil & grease (this is a measure of the
organic chemical compounds)
• Various natural inorganic and organic
compounds or chemical additives used
in drilling and operating the well
• Naturally Occurring Radioactive
Materials (NORM)
PRODUCED WATER
Produced water is not a single commodity.
The physical and chemical properties of
produced water vary considerably
depending on the geographic location of
the field, the geological host formation,
and the type of hydrocarbon product
being produced. Produced water
properties and volume can vary
throughout the lifetime of the reservoir.
PRODUCED WATER
Kaizen’s revolutionary
technology can be designed

platforms with the same
amazing results as on-land

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS FOR OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY
Attached is a short narrative on a recent water sample treated using the Kaizen Fluid System’s technology. The lab
has provided a report on the raw water treated and labeled Water sample, first stage processing labeled First
Stage Pro and on full TDS removal labeled 2nd Stage Pro. The CDWQG-MAC column is the Canadian potable
water standard, and is there for comparative purposes. The reports are self-explanatory; however, I offer the
following comments for clarification and summary purposes.
The water sample had a TDS of 318,000, TSS of 297, pH of 4.4, Barium of 11,600, Iron 102, Magnesium at 1820, Zinc at
6.7 and Strontium at 7,270. All other constituents within normal limits for produced water. During our first stage, the
pH is adjusted, if required, to make the metals react better in the process. A metallic Ion donor is utilized to help
coagulate Iron and Magnesium and other metals so they leave with the solids. Barium and Zinc tend to stay with
salts in the water as they did with the sample. If turbidity is not an issue, Kaizen does a mechanical separation of
the solids, if it is we can use filtration systems which can be as fine as 1 micron without slowing production and take
TSS to under 20 quite easily. PH is easily adjusted to any level the producer designates. All solids extracted are
benign.
The second stage report is based on the water derived from the first stage which was then put through our
unconventional desal process. Again, pH can be adjusted to any level you specify, it was not adjusted for this lab
report. As noted the Barium has diminished to .115 from the original 11,600 mg/L; Iron to .01 from 102 mg/L;
Magnesium to .1 from 1820 mg/L; and Zinc to .0039 from 6.7 mg/L; Aluminum to .0031 from 3.0 mg/L; Strontium to
0.113 from 7,270 and all other metals are at a fraction from their start point. Turbidity dropped to .18 from 226; TDS
to 144 from 318,000 mg/L; chlorides dropped to 3.98 mg/L from 181,000 mg/L; TSS to 5.4 from 297 mg/L.
Essentially, Kaizen has high grade water suitable for reuse in your operations, sale to others or discharge into the
environment.
