Hello Nobles! Spring is on the way! Our Potentate trip to Cancun was a great time. Twenty seven of us had fun in the perfect Mexico weather. (Pictures of our adventure can be found in this publication). Thank you to all who were able to share this memorable week with us. We missed the rest of you! A few more Shrine clubs are starting to have meetings. Please check the KAABA calen-dar, or check in with your club, to keep abreast of the meeting schedules. It would be great to see everyone out again.

If you are planning to go to the CSSA (Central States Shrine Association) meeting August 19-21 please call the Temple and reserve your room. This year CSSA will be held in Oklahoma City. We have a block of rooms in a hotel about a half mile from the convention center where events will be held. Parade time is almost here. We would love to have a good showing of parade units in our local communities this year. Let’s show everyone that Shriners are alive and well and ready to get things back to normal. Be safe. Greetings Nobles and Ladies,

I would like to start off by saying thank you to the nobility of Kaaba Shrine for electing

me Chief Rabban for 2021. It has been a busy year so far and I hope it continues this

way. We have finished up our Lenten fish fry’s for the year and they were quite suc-

cessful. It takes a lot of people to make this happen and I would like to thank everyone

who helped this year, you did a great job and are much appreciated. I hope we can

continue this next year and get more nobles and ladies involved. I recently attended the

Central States Shrine Association Business meeting in Oklahoma City where Past Po-

tentate Todd Gullickson was elected 5th Vice President of CSSA. This means he will be CSSA President in

2026 and KAABA will be the host temple. Planning has begun and we will be calling upon the nobility to

help make this happen. Parade season is just around the corner, if your local towns are going to have the

parades please let us know so we can get the word out. As always if you have any Questions, comments or

concerns please feel free to contact me anytime.

Dear Nobles and Ladies, It is an honor and a privilege to be elected by you as your Oriental Guide for 2021. I am

a Past Master and the current Treasurer of Cambridge Lodge #49 (Illinois), a member

of the Scottish Rite Valley of Moline and the Treasurer for the Widow’s Sons Great

River Chapter of Illinois. I am excited to see what this year has in store for fun and fel-

lowship for KAABA Shrine and all the clubs and units alike. I was proud to put on the

iconic red fez for the first time and I am even more proud to wear the fez as a member

of the Divan. The work done for children each year by the Shrine is something that we

all should be very proud of no matter what role we play. I have had the chance to make

a trip to Chicago as a driver. What a fulfilling experience. Meeting and talking with the

children and their families is nothing short of a blessing. Not to mention seeing the doctors and staff hard at

work. I can see myself becoming a full-time driver after I retire. I have had the chance to make a few of the

club and unit meetings so far. I love meeting new Nobles and Ladies and plan on visiting you all throughout

the year. Don’t forget to mention to your Blue Lodges, especially new members Raised to the Sublime De-

gree of Master Mason, how fun and fulfilling the shrine is.

Raymond Meier December 19, 2020 DEWITT-Raymond Meier, 1324 Springbrook Lane Apt J DeWitt, IA, died peacefully, Saturday, December 19, 2020 at West Wing Place, Dewitt with his family by his side. Raymond was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Kaaba Shriners Surviving Raymond is his beloved wife Janis of 62 years.

Richard "Pete" R. Shaw February 18, 2020 CLINTON-Richard "Pete" R. Shaw, 84, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Commons of Marice in Eagan, Minnesota. Richard was a member of Clinton Masonic Lodge, and Kaaba Shriners He is survived by his wife Janet of Clinton.

Kenneth Vearl Whyte, 77, of Davenport, passed away Monday, March 15, 2021 at his home. Ken

belonged to many organizations: Kaaba Shriners, Davenport; Clarksville Lodge, Iowa City;

Grotto Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Gerry

Don Dale Hall of 308 East Pierce Avenue, Fairfield, entered into a new life embraced by Jesus at Jefferson County Health Center on March 25, 2021. Don was active in many clubs and organizations which included the following: Clinton Masonic Lodge #15 with a 70 plus year membership, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree in Davenport, Iowa, York Rite Ottumwa, Iowa Bodies, KAABA Shriners (Ambassador), Fairfield Shrine Club (Past Presi-dent), Eastern Star (Past Worthy Patron), White Shrine of Jerusalem (Past Watchman of Shep-herds), Past Rainbow Dad (recipient of the Grand Cross of Color of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and the Ottumwa Consistory Club.

Earl F. Stuedeman, 318 – 28th Avenue North, Clinton, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at his

home. Earl Peggy passed away on August 21, 2008. Earl was a member of the Lyons Lodge #93

where he served 4 times as Past Master, Clinton Scottish Rites Bodies, 33rd Degree Mason, the

Kaaba Shrine in Davenport and the High 12 Club. Earl wife Peggy passed away August 2008.

“BLACKHAWK SHRINE CLUB of the QC”

WHEN do they meet?.....the second Thursday evening of each month, about

5:30pm.

WHERE do they meet.....the Welcome Inn Restaurant, 118 West 10th Ave.,

Milan, IL., (across the avenue from Hy Vee, on Illinois Route 67). Order

off the menu (they have a Senior Menu and salad bar, in addition to a bar).

WHAT do you do.....our door is open to the 300 Nobles and their Ladies in

the QC, who want to meet socially, fellowship with others and enjoy a

program.

IS THERE A “HOOK”?......Sure, annual dues of $15.00 and usually a 50/50

drawing after the meal. Currently, no set fund raising activity.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone

who helped out with the fish fry’s during lent. It was a

big undertaking but we got it done. At the time I wrote

this I didn’t have the final numbers on how we came out.

I will update everyone at the April stated meeting. Don’t

forget the Henry Gun Raffle, $20 a ticket and only 500

tickets to be sold. Parade season is coming up and we have

a couple of towns that have said it’s going to happen. Will

keep everyone informed by “Constant Contact” as time

approaches. By the time you get this, the April stated

meeting will have passed, so don’t miss out on our May 5,

2021 stated meeting before we go dark in June, July, and

August.

Kaaba Membership Dues:

We have 95 Nobles who have not paid their dues.

That amount is $11,915.00

Of those 95, 33 Nobles owe for 2020 & 2021.

That amount is $6,330.00

These dollar amounts are a HUGE part of our income.

If you are in a bad way or you know someone who is in a bad way

financially, medically, or some other situation that is stopping

them from paying their dues, please call, email or text one

of the Divan Officers, so that we can try to help them out.

There is no reason that we should have to drop anyone from

our membership.
