“My job is a pleasure because of our close-knit staff and the way we all work together to make guests happy. It’s fun to be at the front desk and see how guests become more and more relaxed as each day goes by! Our front desk is open 24 hours which is not true for many vacation rentals. Many guests stay seven days or more so I hear about how much they appreciate the spaciousness of their unit as well as the kitchens and oceanfront BBQ grills. Like everyone on staff here I love to see the familiar faces of return guests. So be sure to look for me because I want to get to know you and make sure everything is perfect about your stay!”

“I’ve been at Kaanapali Alii for 16 years and plan to stay forever. What I like is that every day around here is like coming home! I enjoy seeing return guests coming around the corner and then settling them into their favorite spots around the pool. I’ve watched their kids grow up and now I see the grandchildren. It’s that kind of family place. You might not know that I’m also a carpenter. I hand-crafted the 30 redwood beach and lawn cabanas improving on many details from the first set that I built some years ago! Dan shares why, after 30 years with the Resort, “it’s only getting better!” “I know that what we have here at Kaanapali Alii is unique because I have seen all the other tennis facilities around the State while playing in Hawaii’s Grand Prix Circuit. Here we create a very casual environment where you can just drop by! A lot of what I do is get guests connected with each other so they can start playing right away at whatever level they want. I join in games, give private lessons, and of course get people oriented to our new state-of-the-art Fitness Center. Guests love the yoga classes on the oceanfront lawn and new fitness classes including cardio circuit and mat pilates.”

Dan Vanpoucke, Kaanapali Alii tennis pro, is always up on the latest tennis trends and continues to be the welcoming face of the Alii Athletic Club.
