CHAPTER DIRECTOR NEWS
Hello Chapter and Friends,
As you are reading this newsletter, we're at Wing Ding right
now. We are having lots of fun and meeting a lot more
friends. I'm looking forward to meeting a gentleman and
his motorcycle called black flash. If you get a chance look
on YouTube, type in black flash. This is an amazing
motorcycle and light show. Carnell Luckett is gentleman's
name.
This is one of the purposes of GWRRA, making new
friends and making new memories. For the ones that could
not make it to Wing Ding, hope you can make it next time.
There are more rallies coming up soon. We will be
attending Chapter T Rally in Killeen and Chapter H Rally
in San Antonio and ours coming October 14th. Everybody
get ready for fun in the sun.
I'm also looking forward to our Chapter going to Big Bend
for the second time. We have several days of good riding
down there. Other Chapters from Texas will be joining us
and be riding as a group making more memories and
friends.
Our ACD, Armando came out of surgery very well. He's
home now resting and can't wait to get back on his Wing
and we can't wait to have him back in our Chapter and
the community doing all his volunteer work. Before you
know, our Christmas party will be coming up. We will

A helmet is designed to save your head from impacts that would otherwise be life threatening or altering. brainer… err…. a brainer? Whatever.
Nothing is worse than a life altering head injury that could have been prevented with one piece of protective equipment, especially for those in your life who depend on you. Rock the Gear has guidelines to help you choose the right helmet, make sure it will do what it promises, and that it fits just right. Click any of the hyperlinks to learn more about the technical elements we mention.
How to identify a great helmet: A proper helmet is made of four equally important parts: outer shell, foam liner, comfort padding and retention system. All of these parts work together to protect your skull and brain from injury, so skipping even one component would be a bad move.
Generally, all motorcycle helmets get more comfortable as you continue to wear them. Always make sure you start with a tight fit. Ensure that the helmet never gets too loose. Usually, these pads can be removed for washing, which usually helps them “perk” back up a little as well.
IN A NUTSHELL (no pun intended) you want something that is going to prevent head injury, be comfortable every time you ride, and look good (in that order), so take your time when choosing the right helmet. (continued next page)
How to make sure you have a good fit: A perfect fit is just as important as what the helmet is made of, because the fit can affect the way the helmet performs during that crucial moment. The first step is knowing your head shape and matching it to the internal shape of the helmet. Did you know there are three general head shapes, and each helmet model corresponds to one of those three shapes? Learn how to find your head shape HERE. The second step is to measure your head for a baseline measurement. Each manufacturer uses slightly different methods for sizing, so knowing your measurement can help more than knowing your general size.
Tips when trying on a helmet: If you can remove the helmet with the chin strap buckled tightly, if the helmet can move easily and independently while it is on your head, if your ears are not touching the internal comfort padding, or if it falls down over your eyes, then the helmet is too big. If you can significantly bite the inside of your cheeks when you open and close your mouth while the helmet is on, if you feel extreme pressure on your temples, if your chin sticks out from under the chin bar or if it gives you a “hot spot” on your forehead, then the helmet is either too small or the wrong shape.
Important to remember: No matter how well the helmet fits, it’s not going to protect your head if it is strapped to the backseat of your bike…. don’t be “that rider.”

Hello Chapter K2,
Summertime is here! That doesn’t mean you stop riding your motorcycle or
going to motorcycle events. Get out and RIDE. We make several rest stops and
encourage staying hydrated. Encourage other people and friends to ride and
have lots of fun. We want to invite you to our future events coming up. Take a
look at the newsletter, calendar and events listing to see where you might want
to participate.
If you have any potential new members and not sure on how to talk about
GWRRA. Please let the Director know and get their contact information email,
phone number or address. He will communicate with them.
Let’s continue to make our Chapter stronger in working together and supporting
the community, events and rides. Take a look at the Chapter Calendar for
upcoming Events, Rides, Tuesday Dinners, Bike Night and more. Remember the
GWRRA motto of “Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge”. Thank you! Get up

The object is to figure out where the picture of a person’s bike is and then get there. Take the same picture but with your bike and send it to Pat at [email protected]. Your name will be put in a monthly drawing.
So here are the rules
1. The picture must have your motorcycle in it. 2. Once you find the place you must take the picture as close the same way as the original. 3. Then you must send your picture from the same location. 4. You must have FUN doing this. More rules will be added if needed.

My husband was water skiing when he fell into the river. As the boat circled to pick him up, he noticed a hunter sitting in a duck boat in the reeds. My husband put his hands in the air and joked, “Don’t shoot!”
