Overall Course Thoughts

This has been a great course for exploring the endless possibilities of multimedia creation tools. I’m hopeful that many of these tools will be utilized by my elementary students, especially with the Common Core emphasis on showing and explaining their thinking and work. Providing students with the opportunity to show their learning and create their own products makes learning fun!

Why Jing?

•Jing will be an awesome resource for me as I teach an online summer reading course for reading support students in 3rd and 4th grades. I will be able to create multiple video tutorials that will step students through the completion of the course.

•Jing will also come in handy as I provide an in-service to our K-2 teachers on iPad use. My goal is to create a website as a resource “hub” for teachers, complete with video tutorials on iPad use and lessons.

Challenges•I need to dive more into Voice Thread to find out if this tool would be best to use with my 1st grade students for a project about immigration. I also need to learn how to add accounts, find out if I need to upgrade the account in order to do so, and what the cost would be to do this. Successes•Loved getting more ideas for photo editing and resources for creating movies. •Jing! This is going to really be a helpful source with upcoming projects for both students and teachers.

Moodle and Online Learning

Final Thoughts

•Online learning provides me the opportunity to continue to stay current on technology and education without sacrificing time away from my family.•I love the “work at your own pace” aspect of the Eduspire courses. •Moodle is a great platform for online learning. I wish there was a Moodle course on how to create a Moodle course! Additionally, I’d like to know the benefits of using Moodle over something such as Google sites from an instructor’s point of view.•Will Google’s upcoming “Classroom” be the new “go-to” for courses?
