DISCIPLINE PLAN The goal is to help your child become aware

of his/her behavior and how it affects his/her own day and also the day of classmates.

I am currently using stars to reinforce positive behavior.

I use the color system to monitor your child’s behavior throughout the day.

I use a star to let you know how your child’s day was.

Page 7: K INDERGARTEN C URRICULUM N IGHT Oak Grove Fine Arts Academy Mrs. D’Ambrosio Kindergarten 2015-2016.

POSITIVE

Children do what they believe they can do. Building a feeling of self-worth is the stepping stone to developing good behavior.

My belief is: Behavior should be followed by immediate feedback Good behavior is rewarded with opportunities to do

other things Rewarding positive actions and words increases the

desire to be positive The teacher’s attitude sets the tone for the classroom Parent support is the cornerstone to creating a great

year

We are always reaching for the stars!

recess) Clip down to red (loss of all of recess)

If behavior becomes a consistent problem you will receive a call or note from me

If behaviors can’t be resolved your child may have to visit the office and have a consequence from the principal.

INTEGRATING FINE ARTS No difference in standards, ALL teachers in the State will

use the Georgia Standards of Excellence-What is different is the manner that these standards are taught (at times)

The focus is less on “the arts” themselves but rather on the creativity therein

Students singing a song to learn grammar rules, drawing a picture to predict the end of a story, learning hand motions to memorize geometric terms, playing musical chairs and stopping at various desks to correct sentences, projects involving original creations of cabins, robots, scenes from a story, etc. ALL of these are examples of incorporating the Fine Arts into instruction

Page 27: K INDERGARTEN C URRICULUM N IGHT Oak Grove Fine Arts Academy Mrs. D’Ambrosio Kindergarten 2015-2016.

INTEGRATING FINE ARTS Bottom line

the regular school day at a Fine Arts Academy differs from that of a traditional school only in the incorporation of the Arts into instruction- ALL students in the District will have the same academic standards, whether at a STEM, a Fine Arts Academy or a traditional school

Page 28: K INDERGARTEN C URRICULUM N IGHT Oak Grove Fine Arts Academy Mrs. D’Ambrosio Kindergarten 2015-2016.

SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS Excitement and Energy in all classrooms, lots

of “happy noise” but always under control

High educational aspects for ALL students- don’t aim for the middle, aim for the top!

Exemplary Student Behavior- when time to sing, sing with all your heart, when it’s time to study, do so with enthusiasm, and always answer with “ma’am” or “sir” knowing that you will be actively engaged in learning from the minute you step on campus each day
