What is Juvenile Crime Prevention? Why is it a problem? It is an initiative where the state or the nation fights to reduce instances of crime committed by youths under the age of 18.Juvenile crime is a major concern, shared by state, federal, public and government officials in the United States. The problem of juvenile delinquency is becoming more complicated and universal, and crime prevention programs are either unequipped to deal with the present realities or do not exist. Due to the rise in juvenile cases, states have responded by enactment of serious laws that have distinguished between adults courts and juvenile courts. The trend of crime policies in the United States tends to head towards treating juvenile courts same as adult courts.

The only effective way to reduce and prevent juvenile crime is to balance tough enforcement measures with targeted, effective and intervention initiatives. - Janet Reno
