HISTORY
• The hanging as a form of punishment in England began in the fifth century.
• Around 72.000 people were executed by different methods such as hanging , bonfire or decapitation.
• In 19th century, the death penalty was removed for thieves and minor criminals.
CHILDREN• The children were also executed.• Executions were made in prison.• Young people under 18 were executed only until 1908.
FLEET PRISON
• It was situated in London on the banks of the river Fleet• The Fleet Prison was built in 1197 and it was demolished
in 1846.• Prisoners had to pay their food and accommodation.
MARSHALSEA• It was situated on the south of London and it worked until 1842.• It was a town that was in the suburs of the city.• It was an area frequented by criminals.• It was opened in 1729 and it could keep around 300 criminals.
