In this day and age of total globalization,everything in the world is much moreinterdependent than we can imagine. Any, eventhe most slight changes on the global stage mayaffect the economy of different countries andcompanies with lighting speed.

Crisis not only implicates changes in usualwork conditions, decrease in the number ofclients or loss of business. It is also a rupture ofestablished stereotypes and a search for newopportunities. If we behave in the right manner, itcan become a turning point for theimplementation of new opening opportunities,allowing to increase the market share, enhancethe efficiency of business processes, contribute togetting new partners and etc.

The crisis forced Jurby WaterTechInternational to review its strategy, look atbusiness in a new light, look for new motivationfor development, for which reason the companyhad to react and re-group for furtherdevelopment in a timely manner.

The combusted economic crisis led to grave recession in suchareas as oil chemistry, energy and metallurgy. After all, theseindustry sectors were the largest consumers of water purificationsystems. Suspending or decreasing the companies modernizationprograms resulted in a situation where the majority of thecompanies operating in the area of engineering and supplies of rawmaterials and component parts for water treatment and waterpurification faced the problem of dramatic reduction of the numberof orders and of liquidity shortage.

Anti-crisis STEPS

1. The company came up with a new strategy for dynamicresponse to the changes in the situation on the market. Thestrategy is implemented by developing programs, budgets andprocedures aimed at expanding the scope of coverage of themarkets in the area of water treatment and waste waterpurification in oil processing, oil chemistry, energy, metallurgy andfood industries.

2. The sales system was reconsidered to enhance its effectiveness.The target range of clients and destination markets were adjusted;new standards and incentives system for employees engaged insales was developed; a reliable management system was built.

3. Foreign investment capital was attracted, which created aninflux of free cash capital. Independent analysis of the investmentattractiveness of Jurby WaterTech International was carried out inrespect of all factors – both external and internal. Productionaspects, market situation of the company (its competitive ability),management factors (goodwill and management quality),possibility to stir up innovative activities were considered, therebyproving its steadfast stance in the market as the volatility of thecompany shares corresponds to high yield against risk pattern.

4. Comprehensive review of costs was carried out to halt theprocess of reduction of profit which resulted in the development ofhorizontal integration in the form of B2B project with theNowadays Technologies company (joint purchases of automaticequipment under more favourable conditions as two companies atonce participate in the procedure of procuring from one supplier)and in the vertical integration, which allowed successful close co-operation with the suppliers and rescheduling of payments,changing their period from 30 to from 30 to 60 days. In 2018, it isplanned to develop these integrative parallels more dynamically.

What changes in crisis?

market and the behaviour of competitors and this may be both a threat and a business opportunity as there is an

emerging trend of actors in the market who copy company products and technologies and even engage in dumping pricing. By optimizing our business processes we hope to

increase the market share and attract new partners.

5. A strong team of professionals was built, human resourcesaudit was carried out to change the corporate culture and thedownsizing of the disloyal workforce. Termination of someemployees who could not accept the new realities of thedevelopment policy allowed cutting personnel upkeep expenses.The functions were re-distributed among the current employees inthe optimum way, which allows approaching each employee moreindividually and applying personal motivation methods. The newpersonnel policy allows the employees to be focused not only onpersonal financial results but also on creating general favourablemicroclimate in the whole company. Target-oriented upbringing ofyoung personnel for attracting them into the company wasprovided for.

6. Restructuring aimed at enhancing competitive ability. Therewill be continuous monitoring of the market, development of owninnovative programs for reagent water processing and monitoring,voluntary certification; the promotion instruments are provided forthe promotion in the destination markets.

Sustainable growth concept is a new model of economic growth,social equality and ecological sustainability. Following thesustainability concept is an essential condition for the companystrategy implementation and for the improvement of the operativeeffectiveness of the organization. Sustainable development can beclassified as “development that meets the needs of the presentwithout compromising the ability of the future generation“.

Water management is one of the most important challenges forfuture generations and each of us. That is the exact reason why it isimportant to create and develop efficient solutions on water andwaste water processing, considering that this is the process ofeconomic and social changes where the use of natural resourcesmust be appropriately adjusted.

The technological solutions of the company assist in:

• reducing the initial water consumption,• reducing the negative impact on the environment,• providing the consumers with water of the required quantity

and quality parameters.

In 2017, the company in co-operation with public organization“Green Patrol” started participating in a joint project aimed atimproving the ecological environment.

There was a natural shift to ecologicaleconomy, which manifested in the following pillarsof the sustainable development of the company:economic, social and environmental .

before the business sphere participants. Jurby WaterTechInternational understands that the lack of careful economicplanning leads to the depletion of resources, wherefore thedevelopment vector is focused on preserving water, energy andother resources.

We exercise control over the quality of products and services;during the whole period of the existence of the company, therewas not a single kilogram of defective chemical reagents produced.The goal of logistics and suppliers is set in such an adequate waythat it allows timely or pre-schedule loading without using extraenergy resources. The quality of the maintenance services isregularly appreciated in the Clients’ letters of gratitude, therebyincreasing the sustainability indicators of the economymanagement.

The necessity in the quality management system is the companystrategic solution aimed at enhancing its activities and ensuring asolid foundation for sustainable development undertakings. Social pillarSustainable development is confined to the question regarding

the opportunities of people and companies to define their ownfuture. Social aspects of sustainability – resolving the issues of well-being and health of the society as well as the issues of education,occupation and respect for human rights.

In 2018, Jurby WaterTech International re-certified qualitymanagement system LST EN ISO 9001:2015 in accordance with thelatest requirements and is going to implement news systems:environmental management system LST EN ISO 14001:2015 andoccupational health and safety management system BS OHSAS18001:2007.

On 09 February 2018, during the event – announcement of theresults of “Ecologic Rating of the Constituent Entities of the RussianFederation” for 2017 as well as awarding Companies-holders ofGREEN CERTIFICATES by the authorized representatives of thePresident of the Russian Federation, Jurby WaterTech Internationalwas awarded GREEN CERTIFICATE – QUALITY CERTIFIED. A specialevent was organized by all-Russia public organization “GreenPatrol“ ("Zelyonyj patrul“).

Nowadays, when practically all industrial enterprises of Russia(energy, oil and gas processing, chemistry, metallurgicalengineering and etc.) were built in the 50-ies – 80-ies of the pastcentury, the physical wear of the main water-treatment equipmentmakes 100-200 % according to modern outlooks.

It should be noted that in much of the water treatmentequipment (WTE), due to the traditional Russian practice of“residual financing“, there is practically no control andinstrumentation equipment; normal regularity of the filteringmaterials‘ substitution is obstructed; no anticorrosive protection ofthe interior filtering surfaces works are performed and etc.

All above stated leads to high operational costs (energy losses,chemical reagents, waste water) and, which is the most importantthing, – to emergency situations, including ecological ones. In theselatter days, the Russian government raised a question offundamental modernization of industrial enterprises as well aspublic organization supervising over the implementation ofecological technologies of water and waste water purification.

Reconstruction of water purification and water treatment is atop-priority goal for the majority of heat and nuclear energy,hydrometallurgy companies, self-constrained paper mills,pharmaceutical companies, community facilities and food industrycompanies.

Jurby WaterTech International is focused on addressing theproblems of rational use and protection of water resources inaccordance with the ecological requirements and individual needsof the client. One of the core lines of work on the protection ofwater resources is the implementation of new technologicalprocesses of production, shift to closed (zero waste waterdischarge) cycles of water supply where purified waste water is notdischarged but repeatedly used in technological processes.

The protection of water resources from depletion andcontamination for its efficient use for the needs of nationaleconomy is one of the most important problems requiringimmediate solution. In Russia, environment protection measures,specifically those related to purification of industrial waste water,are widely implemented.

We are happy that 2017 was the year we experienced so muchdifferent events, which invigorated us, made us remember “Why” –why and for whom we work in the water treatment and waterpurification area.

For that purpose:1. We plan to use every effort to enhance our positions on the

Russian market of water treatment, processing andpurification of waste water for industry sector enterprises:energy, gas, oil processing and oil chemistry, metallurgy, foodindustry and industrial infrastructure.

2. We will strive for establishing ourselves in the new markets inthe Middle East (Egypt) and Central Asia (Kazakhstan).

Egypt:• In co-operation with our partner in Egypt (“WTCO Engineering

consulting“), we will participate in open tenders for sea waterconversion for military establishment “Army of Egypt“.

• We are on the homestretch in the development of waterpurification product for “Semadco” companies which producefertilizers (turnkey project). The project will include: 2 waterpurification systems for demineralisation and purification ofwaste water. The works will be commenced in 2018.

• We have proceeded to the preparation of documents forpreliminary assessment of qualification and compliance whichare necessary for “PEGESCO” (main adviser in the energy sectorof Egypt). After successful negotiations, we will be able to jointhe ranks of official suppliers of “PEGESTO” and participate inopen tenders.

Kazakhstan:• We are aimed at developing successful projects in the energy

sector by consolidating our efforts with the local partners. Thestory of our success in Kazakhstan is not new – we have alreadydeveloped several largest water treatment plants for the mostimportant electric power stations in the country: electric powerplant in Astana, electric power plant Ekibastuz 1 and Ekibastuz 2and etc.

• Currently, we are holding negotiations regarding the co-operation with ERG (Euroasian Resources Group) in such areasas energy (focus on electric power stations) and extractiveindustries.

3. We offer the widest range of services: internal audits,experimental tests, all stages of engineering design, production ofequipment for water treatment plants and waste watertreatment/processing and purification technologies, start-up andcommissioning, technical maintenance (guarantee and post-guarantee maintenance, equipment repair or substitution,technical maintenance and fault correction).

4. We have a close-nit team of professionals.

5. We have all opportunities to implement projects of various levelsof difficulty – starting from design (all stages of engineeringprojects) and ending with technical maintenance (design andproduction, supply, assembly and mounting, guarantee and post-guarantee maintenance.
