The links to the departments’ clinical websites and list of medical cases is provided to give applicants a chance to learn more about the
department they may potentially apply to since, the many of the departments’ English websites do not have the latest information. Please keep
the following in mind when viewing the links:
• The links were not made for the Clinical Observership Program, however the information will help applicants learn more about the
departments they can apply to.
• Clinical observers may not be able to experience all of the cases listed on websites, however the sites should provide more information about
specialties of the departments. The medical cases a clinical observer will experience will be dependent on the patients the department sees
while the clinical observer attends the program.
• The medical cases the departments specialize in are listed under the Japanese words: 対象疾患
• The websites are entirely in Japanese. Please follow the following steps to translate the information:

Notices • The department specializes in breast oncology, which includes breast surgeries.• No endocrine surgeries take place in the department. • Participants must pay special attention to the treatment of patients in the outpatient clinic.• Participants are encouraged to engage in the conferences.

Prerequisites • Cardiovascular medicine bed side learning (BSL) portion of their medical school curriculum completed prior to the program• Cardiovascular medicine elective completed prior to their arrival• Passion to learn about cardiovascular medicine
Additional Requirements • Applicants must submit a document that indicates they have completed the prerequisites mentioned above.

Notices • Participants may need to stand for long periods of time while observing surgeries. • Some surgeries will continue until late into the night.
Content • Observation of surgeries, especially laparoscopic assisted colectomy, and colonoscopic examination, especially the ESD method• Participation in preoperative conferences and joint conferences with the department of gastroenterological medicine
Notices • The department is more of a primary care center than an intensive care unit. • Observers may have the opportunity to attend a night shift during their observership. Applicants should indicate when they submit
their application if they would interested in completing a night shift. • Applicants may be able to apply for a one week observership in the Department of Emergency and Disaster Medicine in Shizuoka
Hospital or Urayasu Hospital. The departments in the affiliated hospitals experience more emergency cases than the Main Hospital.

Content • The majority of doctors in the department specialize in PD• Observation of clinical examinations, image readings, outpatient clinic, deep brain stimulation, and tx such as botulinum toxin• Discussion with experts of various neurological areas in lectures as well as small round• Training on how to present case reports in department conferences • Encounter advanced level basic medical sciences• Enhance knowledge of neurology in all of its phases: basic, clinical, and social
