JUNIOR RAINBOW RULES RULE! Our new updated behaviour policy is now in place at the Juniors. The children have all been working so hard to keep to the new ‘Rainbow Rules’. The revised policy explains the school’s new ‘Rainbow Rules,’ which will constantly be referred to at school for when children make ‘good’ choices or ‘bad choices.’ It would be great if you could go through the rules with your child so that they make ‘good choices’ by following them. They are: We are honest. We listen. We have good manners and walk sensibly around the school. We look after property. We are gentle and calm at all times. We are kind and helpful. We work hard. We are all so proud of how well the children have followed the ’ Rainbow Rules’. Well done to you all!

JUNIOR RAINBOW RULES RULE! Our new updated behaviour policy is now in place at the Juniors. The children have all been working so hard to keep
to the new ‘Rainbow Rules’. The revised policy explains the school’s new ‘Rainbow Rules,’ which will constantly be
referred to at school for when children make ‘good’ choices or ‘bad choices.’ It would be great if you could go
through the rules with your child so that they make ‘good choices’ by following them. They are:
We are honest.
We listen.
We have good manners and walk sensibly around the school.
We look after property.
We are gentle and calm at all times.
We are kind and helpful.
We work hard.
We are all so proud of how well the children have followed the ’ Rainbow Rules’. Well done to you all!
JUNIOR CHILDREN - WALKING HOME ALONE
We would like to remind ALL Junior parents that if your child is leaving the school premises at the end of the school
day without an adult, we need this in writing from the child’s parent/carer. Please hand any letters to the school
office so we can update our records and inform your child’s teacher. Walking home without supervision is only
applicable to our Year 6 children.
MOBILE PHONES IN SCHOOL
Please can we ask that NO mobile phones are brought into school by children unless they are in
Year 6 and walk home on their own. All phones will now be kept in the school office. Please
ensure your child takes their phone to the office (phones should be clearly labelled with the name
and class) before going on to the playground at 8.35am. Children should collect their phone at the
end of the day from the office.
YEAR 2 FIRE STATION TRIP
On Monday 5th March, Year 2 went on a trip to Eastbourne Fire Station as part of their Incredible Inventions topic.
They were able to look in and around the fire engine, ask questions, see inside the fire station and, even, use a fire
hose! The children (and adults!) had a great morning and when they got back to school, they wrote some fantastic
thank you letters to the firefighters.
UPDATE ON MR TRENT AND YEAR 6
Unfortunately, Mr Trent remains unwell and is unable to return to work at this time. I know you will all join me in
wishing him well. Mr Sapsford remains with Almond Class, supported by Mrs Dunn 3 mornings a week and Mrs
Sharpe every day. Miss Hollobone is also supporting Year 6. Additional provision has also been organised in Year 6 to
support the children in the lead up to their SATS. Mr Getaneh and Mrs Payton have both had a great start and are
getting to know the Year 6 children very well.
UPDATE ON MRS TEEAR
Unfortunately, Mrs Teear also remains unwell. We would also like to wish her the very best and hope to see her
soon. Mrs Fran Simpson will be working additional hours to support the Inclusion Department and we welcome Mrs
Nicky Everett temporarily while Mrs Teear is unwell. Mrs Everett, like Mrs Simpson has a wealth of experience with
SEN and we are very excited that she is joining our team.
CHARTWELLS PARENT SURVEY
Chartwells are running a survey for parents to complete regarding the meals your child
receives at school. For every survey completed you will be in with a chance of winning a
family trip to Drusillas, Knockhatch or Diggerland! The survey is now live and will run until
Wednesday 25th April 2018. Go to www.loveschoolmeals.co.uk/wae to take the survey.
FRENCH ACROSS THE FEDERATION
We hope your child is enjoying learning French at school. Remember to have a look on the
website if you are interested in practising your language development at home too. This is now available for ALL year
A huge thank you to Ted and Chloe in Year 6 who have been busy collecting opinions
from their Year 6 peers regarding the end of KS2 Prom. The children have come up
with some lovely ideas about making the evening one to remember as they leave
behind their primary schooling and move towards secondary school. Our FOPs team
donate funding towards this event but we do need a dynamic team of parents to help
with organising it. If you are able to help, please do let the Junior office know. Your
support would be very much appreciated!

SCIENCE PROJECT
Caron Teague our Early Years Teacher in Jumping Beans is a UK Ambassador following her
involvement with the Erasmus+ project 'Fostering Creativity in Early Years Science
Education'. This two year action research project which involved Caron gathering research
with some of her Big Beans children (who are now in year 1) has now been successfully
concluded. This work is recognised on the project's website www.ceys-project.eu. The end result is examples of best practice science lessons with children aged 3 to 8 years.
Have a look at the website in the ‘Outcomes’ section Caron’s project is called ‘Investigating
