Local Junior Golf Programs MyGolf at Australian Pitch and Putt—Waverley Course

Mygolf junior golf coaching has been running at Australian Pitch and Putt—Waverley Course for nearly a year with

a growing number of juniors attending for this exciting and challenging program.

Students are encouraged and inspired to learn and enjoy the art of the golf swing and the game of golf. Juniors

learn etiquette, good sportsmanship and the technical skills involved in all the golf swings, with a focus on games

and fun.

I learned how

to do chipping

and how to

drive. I like

playing driving

because I got

70 metres.

Kristen 4C

I did the Golf Clinic. I

thought it was really fun

because we got to play

golf and learn how to hit

the ball when it is in the

sand. I learnt that if you

touch the sand in the

bunker it’s a penalty. I

recommend this clinic to

anyone who wants to learn

how to play golf.

An excellent program has been running at Huntingdale golf

Course under Kate Dunn, assistant golf professional. There

are three levels—junions (for beginners), intermediate level

and cadets—with around 60 students.

The focus is on coaching students, both juniors and adults, to

make solid progress in their golf. Kate sets the bar high and

the students revel in the challenge and strive to be their

very best at golf.

Golf is great! Last we did driving. I

learnt all the steps and hit a perfect

shot 70 metres!!! I was amazed with

my hit. I really thank Miss Hayhurst

for her excellent teaching and hope

to see her at Pitch and Putt

sometime. Thank you for teaching us

golf. Now I have another sport to

admire!

Alex M 4B

I learnt how

to do a drive

and I really

liked doing

the chipping.

I wasn’t so

bad at it.

SweeSiang 4B

I like golf

because I

learnt lots of

things like

driving. I

liked it

because we

got to hit

hard.

Driving

1. The player must place the ball between the two markers at the teeing ground, no more than two club

lengths behind the line of the marker.

2. In stroke play, if a competitor when starting a hole plays a ball from outside the teeing ground, he

gets a penalty of two stroke and then must play a ball within the teeing ground.

Golf Etiquette/Rules

Good Sportsmanship

Golf has been seen for a long time as a ’gentleman’s game’, where players expect each other to play according

to the rules and they trust each other. So when players are caught cheating it is a serious offense with

heavy penalties! When players do not follow the rules it is really unfair to everyone, including the cheat. If

you won a hole of a competition by cheating, then you really haven’t won, but have lost respect for yourself

and the respect of other players .

“Doing the right thing and doing what I know is right in my heart and in my conscience is more important than

short-term success” Blayne Barber, 22, after disqualifying himself from Q-School for signing an incorrect

scorecard six days after advancing to the second stage.

“ Golf is like solitaire. When you cheat, you only cheat yourseslf.” Tony Lema

By Lynette Hayhurst—golf coach for Mygolf, (juniors), Playgolf (teens &adults) and Sporting Schools

tralian Open. He was recorded 13 hole in ones and he is still hungry to

win at 56. His advice to young players ...is

“Through every generation the most successful players are the

ones that work hard and work with a purpose.”
