• Schedule campus visits during the summer
• Attend college fairs **Make sure to plan ahead**
• Register for ACT/SAT
• Communicate with your parents
• Fall of senior year is the time to focus on applications.

SAT TESTING• April 10: All juniors are registered to take test at DGS• Register for other Saturday dates at www.sat.org • Registration deadline is April 6th for May 5th test• Other test dates and deadlines• How to register online
ACT TESTING● DGS is no longer offering a school-wide ACT test.
● Registration deadline is March 9th for the April 14th ACT if you choose to take it.
● Visit www.actstudent.org for registration information
ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY• NCAA
– Division I and/or Division II potential student athletes are recommended to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center during Sophomore Year
– Register ASAP if you are planning to enroll
• NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics)– Need to register with NAIA Eligibility Center– Guide for the College-Bound Student Athlete
COST OF ATTENDANCE (COA)● Important factor when choosing a college!● COA includes:
■ Tuition, room and board, books, transportation etc.
■ Look on each college’s website to view their estimated COA
■ Net Price Calculator - Each College/University offers one
FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA)• Go to http://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/estimate for a free estimate of what your Expected Family Contribution will be, and how much Federal Aid you might receive.
• Students can complete their FAFSA starting October 1st
• Talk with your parents about completing this application
• DGS will have FAFSA resources available in the Fall

seniors, some might take applications from juniors.4. Keep checking Naviance for updated scholarship
list.5. Nearly ALL local scholarships are sent to DGS in
the winter and early spring.

This SPRING is a great time to meet with
college reps !
• Click “sign up” if you plan to attend
• Make a note of the visit in your planner because you will not receive a pass that day
• The only way to sign up for a rep visit is through Naviance.
Counselor or Teacher Recommendation Letter ● For colleges/universities you apply to, determine which
colleges require letters of recommendation.
● Not all colleges/universities require letters of recommendation, research each application carefully.
● If you need a teacher letter of recommendation, contact your preferred teachers during 1st semester of Senior year.
● If you need a counselor letter of recommendation, you will receive more detailed directions during Senior Focus next year.

1. Go to South’s home page
2. Click on Students
3. Click on Naviance
4. Enter student e-mail address ([email protected]) as username.
5. Enter student ID# as password
