TRIBUNEH o l y T r i n i t y E p i s c o p a l C h u r c h FROM THE CO-RECTORS

Our first trip to the Holy Land was amazing! It expanded our knowledge of the Bible in incredible ways and deepened our faith more than we could ever have expected. We invite you to join us in 2019 for a Bible Land Exploration Tour of Israel. It will change the way you read the Bible and you will learn why scholars refer to the Holy Land as the “Fifth Gospel.”

It is truly inspiring to walk where Jesus walked and to see the places where our Savior taught. It is amazing to stand on stones where he stood and to go on a boat on the Sea of Galilee where he walked on water, but the greatest privilege is to travel with a group of people who know his love and presence as the Body of Christ. This year 16 of us shared the joy of knowing the Lord on pilgrimage together in the Holy Land.

Detailed information for the 2019 trip (including costs) will be available soon. Check out the display in the Gallery and come to one of our informational meetings to learn more.

Stone jar in Cana: Jesus turned water into wine

Our first trip to the Holy Land was so impactful in our own lives that we believe more people need to make this journey. We look forward to answering your questions and helping you prepare (both practically and spiritually) for this incredible pilgrimage.

ACOLYTE

June 3, Noon-3pmThis year we have reserved the Canova Beach Park Building! This space is indoors for those who need to escape the heat. We want all our Acolyte families to join the festivities! We will have food and drinks and it will be a blast. We ask that any children who go to the beach be with at least one parent! We will put up a tent on the beach and I encourage everyone to bring beach TOYS!!! Please RSVP to Chris Arter (321-729-8082) or Vern Lester (321-591-7295).

Thrift Shop Yard Sale! The Thrift Shop is planning an amazing YARD SALE at 1705 Elizabeth Street on Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9 from 9AM-4PM. We have so many beautiful pieces of furniture and household items in the warehouse to sell, but we don’t have enough room in the shop to display them. A yard sale is the best way to display and present our inventory to the public. There is one major issue – a yard sale requires workers and we need workers. I have set up a schedule for volunteers to help make this yard sale a success. Keep in mind what the Thrift Shop does for our community and find the time to pitch in and help. We need people to set-up and break-down, cashiers (if you aren’t able to be on your feet this is perfect – we’ll have a table set up as a cash out area) and customer service staff – basically to help out the shoppers - more socializing than working. Shifts are as follows: 8AM-9AM set up, 9AM-1PM cashier or customer service, 1PM-4PM cashier or customer service, 4PM-5PM breakdown and cleanup. You can also provide baked goods, either for sale or as a give-a-way! Sign up in the Narthex or at the Thrift Shop. You can also call me, Kathy Walker, at the shop 727-2797, at home 327-2025 or my cell 292-0353. You can also e-mail me at [email protected]. The Thrift Shop really needs our church family’s support.

Prison Ministry Adult Forum: June 10Chaplain Nancy Oliver from Hope for North Brevard will be with us on Sunday, June 10 at 10:30am in Parish Hall for an Adult Forum to discuss her Prison Ministry. Nancy has been involved in ministry for most of her life. She and her husband, Bob, have been foster parents to over 300 children over the years, and have adopted 13 children, most of whom are now adults. She has worked with people with disabilities, including severe mental illnesses, as well as the deaf and the intellectually disabled. She has her

Bachelor’s in Social Work from University of Central Florida, and was ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Church in 2015 after 4 years of study at the Institute of Christian Studies in Winter Park.

Her recent employment includes being a vendor for the State of Florida, helping people with disabilities to get jobs. In that capacity she has also done Pro Bono work helping felons find employment. She also serves on staff at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Orlando, with an emphasis on outreach to the homeless and mentally ill in Orlando. In June of 2016, tragedy struck Orlando with the killing of 49 people in the Pulse night club. Nancy was the only clergy at ORMC waiting with family and friends of the victims for word on where their loved ones were. She was there that night at the hotel when death notifications were being given. Nancy has been certified in individual and group crisis intervention.

Nancy has been a volunteer for the Chaplain’s office here at the Brevard County Jail for over 5 years and was hired as a full time Chaplain in the Brevard County Jail in February 2017. She lives in Titusville with her husband, Bob, and 2 of her children and a four year old grandson. Bob is retired from the US Coast Guard after 20 years and retired a second time after 12 years at Royal Oak Medical in Titusville.

1. What is literally happening at that point in the story?2. What allegories can be thought of, or what does that passage remind you of?3. Reflect on what the passage means to you in your life.4. What has the line called you to do?

LiftUp News:Margaritaland Murder Mystery Fundraiser Dinner

Wow, did we have fun! The delicious chicken dinner was prepared by very own Chef Daniel Farr. The servers were our very own Youth Group. Randy Jacobson was our murder mystery host that led us through the evening of “guess who”. Jack Daniel, our Tikki Bar bartender played by Frank Crawley, was actually murdered by drinking a margarita laced with calcium hydro chlorite. He soon after returned as Jim Beam and continued to man the Tikki Bar. The room was filled with suspects. Each table had to come up with who murdered Jack Daniel and why. Certificates went out to the best story teller, the best actor, best dressed and to the only two tables out of 11 that guessed the correct murderer and motive. The murderer at this murder mystery dinner was the Lifeguard played by Jay Olsson. Of course, he didn’t know he did it until he opened envelope number two. A special thanks to the Youth Group, Randy Jacobson, Frank Crawley, Daniel Farr and most importantly all the characters who came to play and participate. AND... all of this fun made $2,034 for LiftUp Foster Teens!

LIFTUP Foster Teens Community Luncheon: Thursday, June 14 at 12 noon in the Parish Hall. Would you like to be a part of this amazing new program that aids foster teens aging out of foster care? Join us for this informational meeting/luncheon to learn more! PLEASE RSVP by June 10 to [email protected]. For more information call 321-301-0824, Stacey Westphal or Lisa Soloway.

HEALTH MINISTRY NEWS!BP CLINICS: The Health Ministry Team will be doing their usual “things” during the months of June & July. Blood Pressure screeners will be in the Narthex to read your numbers on June 2/3 and July 7/8.

YOGA & EXERCISE CLASSES: The Mat Yoga (Mondays at 6:00pm) and Chair Yoga (Wednesdays at 4:00pm, except July 4) will meet throughout the summer. The Exercise Class will also continue to meet on Mondays at 2:00pm unless the church office is closed for the day. If you know your vacation schedule and want to share it with us, we will be delighted to know where you are so we can pray for your wellness.

HEALTH FORUM: SUNDAY, JUNE 24 at 10:30am, Parish Hall: The month of June brings Hurricane season, and is National Safety month. On June 24, the Health Team will recognize both of these issues during the coffee hour. The team will be available to share information on how to prepare for a safe summer: we are especially thinking for our “new families to Florida”. We invite you to stop by the tables for information, samples and Chatting with the health team.

UPCOMING FORUMS: Watch the website and the weekly announcements for upcoming forums. Dr. Jay Olsson will discuss the use of different methods in reaching pain control. The organizer of Space Coast Therapy Dogs is coming to enlighten us on the responsible way dogs are assisting individuals and the community. Kathryn Ridner from Vitas Health Care is educating churches in the area on life choice and end of life decisions. She will be here, a Sunday in August to discuss advance directives.

FLU SHOTS: Don’t rush out to get your flu shot, because the Visiting Nurses Association will be back at Holy Trinity in the fall to administer your shot!

Remember to check the churches’ website under Health Ministry to see more wellness readings on health issues. Wishing all of you a safe and happy summer. ~ Your Health Team
