June Music Newsletter Kinders & Grade 1 Dear Kindergarten Parents and Guardians, It has truly been a gift to work with your children this year. You should feel very proud of how musically confident and confident they have become. Ms. Cyca is in for such a treat next year!! May was a great month of music and fun. A favorite activity was the Princess and Knight Dance using ribbons and rhythm sticks. This was a prefect activity to enrich musical pallets with world music samples!! Continuing into June, Kinders will be using the BIG DICE OF FUN to review their favorite songs and movement activities from the year. Dear Grade 1 Parents and Guardians, Your children have accomplished so much this year. They are confidently reading rhythm patterns and have a solid awareness of so-mi tones. We also began learning about treble clef using the Freddie the Frog note reading system. Moving into June, we will be extending our learning to include composition of simple musical melodies and patterns. I will also be sending home music booklets for students who are comfortable with note reading and want to compose during the summer! As I’m sure you’ve heard, Grade 1’s loved incorporating dramatic play into their Peter and the Wolf Unit. Students got to act out the story of Peter and the Wolf to a musical narrative. There were loads of giggles watching themselves as dramatic actors! As we move into summer, just a reminder that you can always reach me by email. I love hearing about musical experiences inside and outside the classroom! [email protected] The Making of a Musician Begins at Home! In fact, parents who love music contribute as much to the musical success of their children as parents who are good musicians!
