The maple leaf has been a Canadian emblem since
the 18th century. It has often served to distinguish
Canadians abroad – including our fi rst Olympians in 1904.
Charla Huber/news staffKyara Kahakauwila, president of the West Shore Chamber of Commerce and Sophie Lauro, promotions offi cer with Parks Canada, cut the birthday cake at Fort Rodd Hill, July 1, 2011.
ily fun and not one, but two national historic sites?
Must be Canada Day in Victoria’s West Shore!
Head to Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites on Sunday to celebrate Canada Day.
Not only do the sites represent a significant part of Victoria’s and Can-ada’s history – and a great place to celebrate the national holiday – but parks staff will also serve Canada Day’s biggest birthday cake to park visitors. Come celebrate Canada’s day and join the excitement.
In addition, there’s entertainment with live music throughout the day, fun family activities and a concession – but remember to leave a bit of room for birthday cake!
As an added birthday treat, admission to the sites – including a piece of cake – is free.
