We were able to hold all of our events this year which we are all thankful for! The Taste of Blair and Community Band Concert had to get moved at the last minute from the Depot to the Blair High School. This seemed to be very well received by everyone in aendance, and the plan will be to keep it at that locaon in the future. The Gateway June Jam featuring “ENVY” was a very fun evening! Mother Na- ture really was very kind to us on Saturday for the Car Show, Arts & Craſts show and the pa- rade! I am certainly thankful for that as are all the volunteers and everyone that worked so hard on their floats. The parade went very well over all. I am interested In feedback though! I have goen some really great fresh ideas to consider for next year to help things go smoother and be safer for everyone involved. Thank You to all of the other sponsors for the weekends events, I believe a wonderful me was had by all! The weekend before Gateway to the West Days, was the Open House at Cargill. For the first me since they opened in Blair, Cargill opened its doors to the public. There were Trolleys available to take people through the enre campus, plus you could stop at any locaon and get a tour from employees. There were acvies for children and it was a great educaonal opportunity for adults as well. The picture below is from the ceremony on Saturday. We had one Ribbon Cung so far in June at the Coonwood Cove & Marina and a second one coming up on the 30th at Hopkins Law. There are a few coming up in July also, so please watch for those and try to get out to welcome and show your support for these new busi- nesses to the Chamber and the community. Next week I am heading to the University of Georgia in Athens to aend the US Chamber’s “Instute for Organizaonal Management.” It is the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundaon. With courses on topics such as media training, membership, finance, legal issues, human resources, and much more, Instute ulmately educates parcipants on all facets of running a nonprofit organizaon. This is a wonderful educaonal opportunity and will allow us to expand the benefits of your Membership with the Blair Area Chamber of Commerce. I will be checking my email if you need to reach me. Shannon will be in the office 9-3pm every day next week. Have a safe and happy 4th of July! Jordan Rishel June 2015 * If you have an event that you would like on the Community or Chamber calendar, please get the informaon to the Chamber! We are looking for Service Group events, Businesses, Churches, etc* Cargill celebrates 20 years in Blair!
