Message from the Governor
My Brothers & Sisters,
WOW!!! My first month as your “Governor” has
been great. I still remember when I first walked into this
lodge just 4 years ago, and all I can say is I’m glad I did.
I’ve met so many wonderful people and hope to continue
meeting more in the years to come.
I want to first thank everyone for all of your support, and hope I
can continue to lead our lodge to great expectations. Joe, you left me with
some pretty big shoes to fill, but I think with the help of my fellow Brothers
& Sisters I will continue on with the success that you had.
In Closing I am very excited about the upcoming year and the
many new things we can do to help out Mooseheart and Mooseheaven,

(WHAT YOU MAY HAVE MISSED continued)
Terri’s “Membership & Retention” dinner was followed by our Karaoke
Girls -- Danae & Lisa M. We had a great night and we’re glad to have them
back.
The Mother’s Day breakfast was a huge success. Stuart and I thought it
was never going to end as we served over “70” plates of delicious food.
Thank you Shari and Christie for helping us and Mike C for delivering the
Champaign to our Moms with a Flower. Also, a special thanks to our new
member and Sgt at Arms, “Big Rob” Kolody and our Jr. Governor, Steve
(Hippie) for doing all those dishes.
To Glen and Marion for their On-To Steak dinner.
To Hippie & Stu for the Legion Dinner and Eddie for spinning the records for
our listening pleasure.
To John Storey, Hippie, and Roque for their Huevos Rancheros Breakfast.
To Johnny Wildroudt, with a little help from Linda and Louie, for his
monthly “Johnny Burgers.”
To Stuart and Tracy for the weekly Taco Tuesdays as well as everything
else you do, I thank you both as well as John S for helping them.
I want to thank Brother Tony Close “PITA” for donating a brand new walker
to our lodge. Also, Big Rob, Christie, and Mike C. for cleaning the hallway
walls outside our restrooms. Rob did the ceilings without the assistance of
a ladder (I promised not to tell his mom).
To Mike C for calling Monday night Game Nights. Note to members: Come
out and give him your support.
Lastly, I thank all of you who have come out to support my On-To dinners
to help offset costs to the lodge for Convention expenses.
Last but not least, a great deal of gratitued to Bob, Shari, Ella, Laura, and
Jack for their libations pleasures. If I missed anyone, I apologize.
THANK YOU!!!

Message From the Moose Riders PresidentGreetings to all Moose Riders and Non-Riders,
Wow, another great month. The dinner on May 11thwas a great success. Thank you to all who participated. Also, a Big Thanks to Pastor Gordon for leading us in ourfirst annual International Blessing of the Bikes on May
19th. This is a nationwide event and it’s the 8th year that MooseInternational has sponsored the ocassion. The Moose Riders followedthe Blessing of the Bikes with a Porker Run that raised money forthe Children’s Charities.
The Moose Riders want to invite everyone to our Calico Ghost Townride on Saturday June 2nd (see flyer on page 14). Eddie is looking into therental of a passenger van to transport those of you who either do notride bikes or simply want to leave the driving to someone else. It’s ourway of making everyone feel welcome! Look for a sign-up sheet postedin the lodge. Those opting for the van, we’re asking for a $25.00 perperson contribution. This will cover the cost of the renta l as we l l asthe expense for gasoline. Plan to join us for this day of “Fe l lowship& Western Adventure.” Also, look forward to more Moose Riderevents in the future.
Special Announcement: We’ve changed our monthly meeting day to thefourth Tuesday of every month. So, mark your calendar for Tuesday,June 26th.
Ride to Live, live to Ride.
Sincerely,Steve Harrison

LOCAL STUDENT EARNS
MOOSE SCHOLARSHIP
Kenji Kang, a graduating senior at Van Nuys High School, is the 2012
recepient of Moose International’s R. Robert Dale Scholarship.
Representing our Lodge at the presentation ceremony are Sr. Regent, Susan
Soules (left) and Jr. Regent, Christie Steele (right). We congratuate this fine
young man and wish him the best as he pursues his college education.
This Month’s Questions:
1. What is your favorite main course for dinner?
2. Should sports teams be banned from using Native
American nicknames? (yes or no)
Moose Poll is a new addition to the Moose Call. Its purpose is to survey the
membership on various topics and issues. The results are sure to be inform-
ative. Most important, your response will be anonymous -- I promise!
Those of you who have an e-mail account should send your response to:
[email protected]. If you do not have an internet connection. submit
your answer to one of the bartenders in the Social Quarters. They will place
your opinion in a box behind the counter. Please limit your participation
to one response only for each question. Results will be published in the
following month’s Moose Call.
Thank you in advance for participating. This promises to be interesting.

A Message from the Editor
The lodge needs an “Assistant” Editor for the Moose Call.
Are there any volunteers? My free time is not as flexible
as it used to be. My folks live in Las Vegas, Nevada and
both are struggling with heath issues. As a result, I find
myself attending to family matters that require increased
responsibilities with each passing week and month.
I consider editing the Moose Call a “labor of love” and the the last thing
I want to do is miss a deadline and disappoint fellow members.
Last month, my message centered on transitions. In order for our lodge
to have continuity, we need people to be ready to step in when needed.
Without back-up plans, we risk losing momentum.
If you have a computer and enjoy writing, your lodge needs you. Contact me
at 818-353-5349 and we can discuss the publishing process.
For those of you who wish to submit articles for the July issue, the deadline
is Monday, June 18th. Send material to: [email protected]. Also, all
changes made to the calendar after the planning meeting must be approved
by either the Governor or Sr. Regent and immediately communicated to me.
July Dates to Remember: July 1 - WOTM Breakfast & Bake Sale July 7 - WOTM Youth Involvement Chair Dinner July 14 - Chili Cook-OffJuly 21 - LOOM Mark Klein Dinner @ Oxnard July 22 - LOOM District Picnic July 27 - 99th Anniversary - Mooseheart
