The meeting opened at 8:35 with the treasurer’s report - $1055.38 in disbursements for the insurance policy, website and plaques results in a balance in checking of $12922.34. Debbie Bell is still trying to get the various
banking issues settled in order to access them online.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved
OLD BUSINESS
Anne Williams as training director has all the current classes filled and going. Some of the classes this session will be held at 4-H Acres due to lack of pavilion availa-bility. Next Fall’s schedule is in process, and instructors are being sought. It will be split into four and five week
sessions due to lack of pavilion time.
Marg Pough is teaching a 4-H group, and she would be glad to have any unused leashes or collars that the Club has not used or given away. Marg suggested a donation
of excess equipment would be welcome.
Anne and/or Kerry will open up the Club store at the next pavilion meeting to offer the excess equipment to
members before it is donated.
The new version of the website is available for viewing. It has to be forwarded to the new website from regis-ter.com, but Debbie wants to have someone with some knowledge of the contract terms of the new website
server before signing it.
NEW BUSINESS
Club activities coming up include the Ithaca Festival Pa-rade on Thursday, May 31st. The theme is “Luau” – could this mean grass skirts for dogs? There was a great turn-out, many thanks to those club members who marched
and performed obedience demos for the crowd.
June program has changed since the May meeting due to an executive decision by Lynne. We will be having a pic-nic at Meyers park in Pavilion E (the one closest to the point and river where we have had meetings before) Please bring a dish to pass and your canine companions on leash) We will eat at 6 pm, then have a short board meeting (while you potty your dogs), then general meet-
ing to follow. Hope to see you all there!!!
We would also like to have Snooker flags, if anyone is interested in making them. The Trial committee will be
looking for volunteers for various jobs including set up before, and clean up after, both long and short duration
- during the CPE trial, September 1st and 2nd .
If you would like to volunteer in any capacity, please contact Hannah Robinson ([email protected]) or Kathy Hildreth ([email protected]). Instead of sup-plying volunteers with bottled water, the Trial commit-tee proposed the use of 5 gallon water canisters, and the water fountains in the pavilion, with limited water bottles supplied to committee officials and volunteers with our logo on them. This would save money, and considerable trash and recycling.
Kathy Hildreth put out the possibility of a seminar with agility trainer/speaker Anne Stocum this fall. She is from the Fairport area, and does most of her work in the Buffalo area. Kathy will put all the information about her on the listserve, but she will need a definite show of interest to make a further commitment. There will be links to topics for the seminar on the listserve. If you did not receive these, please contact Kathy at kphil-
On Thursday May 31, a group of IDTC’ers marched in the Ithaca Festival Parade. All of the dogs and the handler did great during the parade – showing off skills such as: wagon pulling, group sits/downs, heeling, drop on recalls, retrieves, signals, recalls, and general very good behavior! We had perfect weather for the parade – a rarity in Ithaca! Talk about a geat proofing opportunity – our dogs worked with loud noises, kids, bikers, dogs from the crowd, candy and other food stuff on the parade route (and apparently a group of horses had been ahead of us somewhere), people on stilts, barking cars, sword fights
and more.
My thanks to all who joined in on the fun:
· Marian and Tom and their huskies
· Deb Bain, Jaime and Rob and a herd of Tibbies and Springers
· Sylvia and Argo
· Lisa and Brinker
· Rebecca and Jasper
· Debbie Bell and Tavari
· Tammy and Flare
· Sue and Charm
· Karen and Finn
Thanks and hope to see you all in the parade next year!
Chris & Jazz
