Please do not park on the grass or sidewalks on the St. Paul side of the church. We are blessed with a large parking lot. Besides, a brisk walk is good for you! Also, when using the St. Paul side driveway circle, use the West side only. (the side away from the front entrance), so as to leave a passageway for emergency vehicles and to keep the steps and ramp accessible. Courtesy and consideration make for good parking etiquette. Thank you!

We are in the planning phases of our course offerings for the Fall and have a few exciting opportunities we would like to offer you on top of our regular options:

Preschool: With so many young children filling our pews on a week to week basis we want to offer parents the opportunity to have their children attend our classes and have the basic tenants of our Faith that are taught at home reinforced in a group setting. Children will be introduced to a bible story and it will be followed by a craft to reinforce the concept.

High School: We have obtained solid, orthodox materials to continue instruction after Confirmation has concluded. If you would like your son or daughter to gain a deeper understanding of the chief truths of our Faith and enjoy good conversation about the perils they face on a daily basis in a secularized culture, please consider signing up!

The sooner we have signups for these offerings the sooner we can move forward with different elements of implementation. Please contact Andy Follaco via the contact information provided on the back page of the bulletin.

Q. 133. What is man?

A. "Man" in the Catechism means all human beings, either men or women, boys, girls, or children.

Q. 135. What is a creature?

A. A creature is anything created, whether it has life or not; body or no body. Every being, person, or thing except God Himself may be called a creature.

Q. 136. Is this likeness in the body or in the soul?

A. This likeness is chiefly in the soul. Q. 137. How is the soul like to God?

A. The soul is like to God because it is a spirit that will never die, and has understanding and free will.

As we have done in the past, we are making the Community aware of financial needs above and beyond normal to request that you consider an additional gift to our life here at St. Thomas the Apostle Church and Parish Center. The following items are needed. Please consider helping with a contribution of some or all of the costs. Thank you in advance for your generous support! 1) Air Conditioning Repairs $4,000 2) Evangelization Mailing $1,200 3) Wireless Microphone Replacement for Fr. Bonsignore $300

...when this bulletin will print "frequent and friendly reminders" to dress appropriately (respectfully, neatly, modestly) when coming here to Holy Mass. Thus do we show outwardly our inward reverence for God and neighbor. Short pants or short skirts, tank tops or halter tops, strapless, tight fitting and revealing outfits are not appropriate in the House of God. In a perfect world, such reminders would not be necessary. This is not a perfect world. Thank you, in advance, for your courtesy and cooperation.

We are initiating a new approach to the grounds cleanup, which is very much needed as soon as possible. Rather than an all-out single day event for clean-up, a new approach is being initiated to maintain our grounds consistently and with minimal effort. The church and parish center grounds have been sectioned into 24 parcels. Individuals can figuratively ‘own’ a selected parcel, which they maintain on a regular basis. The intent is to have each section maintainable, by one or two people, with a reasonable amount of effort, on their own schedule. Multiple individuals can coordinate to maintain one or more sections. Individuals are not responsible for grass cutting. Volunteers are needed for the remaining sections. For more information, please contact: Lou Gabello, 585-756- 6375 (home) or 585-739-7924 (mobile). Your help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

We are looking for four volunteers to help clean our beautiful church. It would require one hour, every two weeks. You may choose a schedule that is convenient for you. Please email Lou and Marcy Gabello at [email protected]. or see back of bulletin for contact information.

...in our Latin Mass Community here at St. Thomas’, please consider registering with us. Use the census forms found in brown envelopes on the literature racks in the church vestibules. Place completed forms in the collection basket. Welcome!

We greatly appreciate our Collection Counters who week after week help ensure the accurate and timely handling of the generous contributions provided by our community! While the 3 teams of counters for the English Mass can meet every three weeks, the 2 Latin Mass teams are still looking for 3-4 more volunteers to help create a third team to help them out. Diocesan policies prohibit related individuals from participating on the same team, however they can be on separate teams. Please contact either Fr. Bonsignore or Ken Roush (727-3430 - [email protected]) if you are over 18 and interested and willing to participate in this activity.

If you have are not registered, please consider officially registering with SKT-LMC. Each Sunday throughout the year, SKT-LMC collects donations of non-perishable food items for local food cupboards, for the purpose of alleviating hunger caused by poverty in our area. The need is very real, even though we may not “see” it close-up. Donations may be placed in the green baskets in each of the church vestibules.

Do you need to access the church or parish center for an important reason? Who to call? Lou Gabello has agreed to be "the one to call." His contact information will be printed regularly in this bulletin on the SKT-LMC CONTACTS page (near the back of bulletin).

Each entrance-way to the church now has a number of religious pamphlets and booklets in the book racks. These items are being supplied, thanks to a generous donation by one of our members. Please feel free to take any material that is of interest. Please note that nothing should be placed on the book racks or on the bulletin boards without first obtaining permission from Father Bonsignore.

To request and schedule intentions for both of our Masses, contact Lou and Marcy at [email protected] or 585-756-6375 or 585-739-3832-cell, to reserve a date before paying for a Mass. The stipend check must be made out in the exact amount of $10 per Mass and made payable to SAINT KATERI Parish (not SKT-LMC). Please use the Mass Intention envelopes located in the literature racks at all entrances to the Church. Drop your envelope in the collection basket or mail it our Parish Center address. (not to St. Kateri Parish) at SKT-LMC @St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4536 St. Paul Blvd. Rochester, NY 14617

SANCTUARY CANDLES burn in the Lady Chapel (in the Church), and the Adoration Chapel (in the Parish Center). Would you like to have a dedicated candle burn in memory of a loved one OR for a special intention? To schedule a dedicated candle intention call (585) 388-7734. Donations for 7 day Church Tabernacle and Adoration Chapel lamps are $10.00 each. Donations for the 3 day hanging lamps in the Lady Chapel are $5.00 each. Envelopes for candle donations are available at all church entrances in the literature racks. Checks should be made payable to SKT-LMC. Place envelopes in the collection basket.

Perpetual Adoration extends its influence far beyond the individual adorers, touching their homes and families and reaching out to the parish community and beyond.--Pope Paul VI This year we are celebrating the 26th anniversary of Eucharistic Adoration at the St. Thomas the Apostle Chapel adjacent to the parish center.  Faithful volunteers have been involved in getting substitutes for open hours for four years now. We have the following openings to fill: Tuesday 12 noon - 1 p.m, 1 p.m. 2 p.m., 2 p.m. - 3 p.m., 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. Thursday 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. Friday 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., 12 noon - 1 p.m., 1 p.m. - 2 p.m., 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.

The Chapel is a beautiful quiet, peaceful place.  We all need that in order to think and pray.  We have many intentions, including our children. Bring them to Chapel in your hearts, if they don't go to Mass.  It is a beautiful place to say the rosary which Our Lady requested.  Please come! If you are able to fill one of these hours either on a regular basis or as a sub, please contact Marie O'Leary at 467-1982 or [email protected].

BEQUESTS

2) I give and bequest___% of the remainder of my estate after all debts, taxes, expenses and family bequests have been paid, to St. Kateri Tekakwitha-Latin Mass Community for its general purposes (or for a specific named program_________).

WHEN YOU COME TO CHURCH, please turn OFF all cell phones, hand-held electronic devices, pagers, watch alarms, etc., and anything else that can disrupt our sacred time with God. It is possible for messaging and texting to wait until later! DRESS CODE: Please remember to dress appropriately for divine worship: neatly and modestly. Holy Mass is not an occasion when we "dress down" or appear "super-casual"! REVERENCE for God and RESPECT for neighbor should determine what we wear. Think about it. Thank you for your cooperation. THERE ARE (AT LEAST) THREE REASONS to maintain a prayerful, quiet atmosphere in the church proper before and after services: (1) RESPECT for the House of God, (2) REVERENCE for the Blessed Sacrament, and (3) REGARD for those who want to pray in peace. The guiding principle should be DEVOTION NOT COMMOTION. Please carry on your friendly conversations in the church vestibules (with inside doors closed), outside, or at the coffee hours. Reverence and friendliness can and should co-exist—in their proper settings!!

...We should make a determined effort to be on time for Mass, and we should make the little sacrifice to stay until Mass is over (that is, when the priest-celebrant leaves the sanctuary). When it becomes necessary to conduct children to the bathroom, please do not travel through the church during the CONSECRATION of the Mass. This will involve only a few moments of delay.
