First Person Hired at TLC Retiring after Nearly 19 years

Anita Gardner Our beloved Program Services Coordinator, Anita Gardner, will be leaving us after many, many years of self-less service to infants, toddlers and their fami-lies. Anita was the first person hired at TLC and has been a mentor to all the staff who followed.

She is so creative, gifted and talented and has worked hard to make TLC the amazing program it is today.

Please join us to celebrate Anita’s great work:

TLC completes first year anniversary

at new building in St. George

What an amazing 12 months this has been. We hardly had everything

put away at our new St. George Center when we started two new pro‐

grams: Kindermusik and Healthy Families America. Both programs have added dozens of more

families to our TLC rosters. So much so that we have had to hire more staff every month just to

keep up.

The TLC Strategic Planning Committee, comprised of Board members, staff and parents, has been

meeting regularly to maximize the use of the center and draft our direction for the next five years.

The Situa on: We were being buried by paper. TLC had 19 years of files and documents that needed to be archived. We had

library and toy lending resources that hadn’t been cataloged. It was nobody’s job to take care of any of this– so it never got tak‐

en care of. The Ac vity: Naomi had never worked on a computer before. But she was willing to be trained and she scanned and

archived over 8000 client files going back to 1993. She shredded all the original documents. She organized every binder, book

and toy. She worked thousands of hours to unbury us from all our old records and always, always with a smile.

Results: She has completed the archiving task. She saved us tens of thousands of dollars in having to hire someone to help us

with this tedious task. She keeps finding new things to do. She chases us down every day and says “What can I do so that you

can go out and help more families?” This is what our staff have to say about

Naomi She was a huge help when we moved. She set up the supply room and the library. She organized all the books in the Li‐

brary. She is so willing to help with anything we ask and very knowledgeable. ‐Malynne Clayburn;

Naomi’s favorite saying is “You don’t need to do that. I can do that for you. I’m here to do all the things you don’t have me to

do” and she means it. She is willing to do the most menial clerical task to give us more me to tackle the bigger projects. Tena

Heward

Naomi seldom misses a day and works 20 – 30 hours a week for us. She is an organiza onal queen and her hard work is a HUGE

factor in helping us serve our families be er. ‐Debbie Jus ce

Naomi emp ed a file cabinet that had followed us here from Laura days. I had been avoiding it forever, and she had it cleared &

separated into shred & recycle piles in less than 20 minutes. The cabinet rolled away with Bill yesterday, just in me to make

room for my brand new bookcase. I couldn’t have done it without her. She also shreds our stack of confiden al discards daily.

Thanks Naomi!! ‐Penny Nu all

Naomi is an excep onal person; she goes above and beyond to help anyone that can use an extra hand. She is currently helping

TLC with pu ng together the binders for our EHS families. She has taken on the task to revise the en re booklet. We love Nao‐

mi and feel she is a great asset to our organiza on. ‐Rosie Miguel

Naomi made the new family binders and asked us to please let her know if any changes were needed. She is always careful to

do things right. I really enjoy having Naomi in the office because seeing her pleasant expression makes me feel like “life is

good.” ‐Suzan Barnes

Naomi always has a cheerful hello for me and has probably shredded a million pieces of confiden al informa on for all of us. ‐

Rayanna Brunsman

Naomi has done wonders organizing the library. One thing she did that made a big difference is that she took the copies of the

videos that we made and copied the original covers and put them in a hard case to make them look nicer and be be er protect‐

ed when we loan them out to families. ‐Bill Wainwright

I was in a rush….trying to get off for a visit, and couldn’t find something I needed in the printer room (can’t remember the item)

Naomi was there and came to my rescue….she knew right where it was and saved the day!!!! ‐Janet Lamb
