A day in the lifeThe News Review made a special, early-morning field trip out to the Victoria International Airport between the hours of 1 and 5 a.m. on July 17. Paving crews with Island Asphalt have been resurfacing the main runway this summer.

Floodlights made paving work easier to see at the Victoria airport’s main runway.

5:00 a.m.

5:00 a.m.Photographers Steven Heywood and Devon MacKenzie captured A Day in the Life on the Peninsula on July 17, 2014, between the hours of 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.

In a single day on the Saanich Peninsula, there is a lot to see. And there are a lot of people hard at work and at play — friends, neighbours and new faces — making the Peninsula a great place to live.In the tradition of showing a community’s best throughout the day, photog-

raphers with the Peninsula News Review hit the streets to capture some of the activity in our Saanich Peninsula neighbourhoods. You might see some people you know — or even may not have known are out there in the wee hours, con-tributing in their own way.

This is the summer installment of the News Review’s Day in the Life series — we do two such profiles of the community each year.

We hope you enjoy these images of life on the go across the Saanich Penin-sula. — Steven Heywood, editor
