and I will give it my best. Fifteen years ago I came to Saint Charles and I am most grateful that I was open to what was then a new assignment for me. I have had the privilege and the pleasure of serving the people of this parish and I am most thankful for all those years. Each and every day has not always been fun, but no job ever is and through it all I have received great encouragement and support from this parish of Saint Charles. I certainly hope to have an opportunity to thank you individually for your friendship, graciousness, and support, but because of the quick turnaround I am not sure that will be possible so I do want to make sure you know how thankful I am for you, how much you have meant to me during these years, and my deep sense of gratitude… Thank you, once again. Congratulations to Samuel Carson Farragher, Oliver Edward Virostek, to their parents, and godparents on the occasion of their baptisms here at St. Charles Borromeo this past weekend. Best wishes to all involved...

From the Desk of the Pastor
These are the remarks I gave last weekend at all the Masses – in case you did not hear it firsthand. A few months ago, Bishop Bonnar and I had a long discussion
during which I told him that I had always tried to respond to the needs of the diocese, I have tried to do all that I have been asked to do, that, through my ordination, I was at the service of the Diocese of Youngstown. It’s what I believe and that’s what I have tried to do. This week, Bishop Bonnar called me to give me a new assignment. He has appointed me pastor of Christ Our Savior Parish in Struthers, the former Holy Trinity and Saint Nicholas parishes, part of which was a previous assignment for me. I will begin this new assignment at the beginning next month. This announcement would certainly be easier to make if I could tell you who the new pastor of Saint Charles will be, but unfortunately I am not able to do that. It’s not that I am not allowed to tell but that no one has been appointed and the process of selection is just beginning this week but Bishop Bonnar assures me it will be complete in very short order and the new pastor will be here by the middle of August. I know that it is not easy to prepare for a new pastor just as it is not easy to move to a new pastorate. I had thought that I would complete my ministerial years here at Saint Charles soon and ride off into the sunset, but I have been asked to do something else

STEWARDSHIPOUR TIME, OUR TALENT, & OUR TREASURE
“Ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
- Luke 11:9Jesus assures us that if we ask, God will take care of what we need. The problem is that our culture often confuses what we really need with what we simply want. The truth is that many of us need very little. However, we usually want so much more! Stewardship is simply being grateful for all that we are and all that we have been given, and generously sharing all of our God-given gifts with others. Generosity is a gift that opens doors to new relationships with others and with God.
OUR GIFT OF TREASURE FOR JULY 16 & 17Sunday Collection: $23,702.00Catholic Exponent: $81.00 Capital Fund: $255.00 Church at Home: $40.00
FAREWELL RECEPTION FOR FR. ROGERS
St. Charles Borromeo Parish will be hosting a farewell reception for Fr. Rogers after the 12:30 p.m. Mass on Sunday July 31, 2022 in the Fr. Haidet Social Hall. We hope you can join us in thanking Fr. Rogers for his 15 years service at St. Charles. We will miss him and we will keep him in our prayers as he moves onto his next pastoral journey.
Due of the change in pastors and with Father Matt here by himself until the new pastor arrives, we will continue one day Mass at 8:30 a.m. for the foreseeable future. As soon as we are able, the 7:15 a.m. Mass will be reinstated.
DAILY MASS SCHEDULE NOTIFICATION
Please remember we still give out food/goods to the less fortunate in our area during the summer and we are in great need for the following: bathroom tissue, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, coffee, canned tuna fish, bar soap, shampoo, body wash, Spaghetti O's, pork and beans, and canned fruit. If you are in need of assistance, the next distribution date will be Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. All are welcome. No documentation of need required.

The lessons are provided, along with supplies and all the materials needed, which are placed in your classroom every Sunday. Also, we encourage team teaching so that we can address scheduling issues along with a substitute list to supplement the opportunity for flexibility. It is important we provide teachers’ ability to come and go as needed! So, if you can join our team as a substitute or team teacher, all are needed and welcome.
FIRST COMMUNION DVD/PHOTOS
