We’re happy to welcome a new family to First Baptist! Be sure to say hello to
Summer break for school is quickly coming to an end. Our youth are headed to the mountains out of state for their retreat with a great-sized group. Pastor Jason continues to challenge them to a commitment of following Jesus as he spends time leading them in worship, discipleship, and service in the name of our Lord. Are you ready to commit your life to following Jesus? Our church took a big step this past week in making a decision together to reach more people for Christ with moving to two morning services. The church will have an early service that will be traditional in style using hymns in worship led by the choir. The later time slot after Sunday School will become a service that will be contemporary in style led in worship by the praise band. The date for starting has not been set, but
will most likely begin after Labor Day. People who want to be a part of the start-up team for the new service will begin meeting in the next few weeks to build and plan the launch of the new ministry in our church. Our new morning schedule will give two choices in time and style to worship with the entire congregation meeting in the middle for a time of fellowship with our breakfast served and also a time of discipleship with our small groups meeting in Sunday School. Style of worship seems to be a challenge for many with preferences that can lead to division. Instead of a blended service with a compromise of styles, you can now choose what is best for you not only in style, but time. An added time slot of an early service will also allow some to be finished more than an hour earlier for those attending Sunday School. For
others seeking just an early service, this service will give them an option that is currently not available in Metter. These new options will give us additional ways to invite more people to come and be a part of our church family. The only way that Metter will become better is through Jesus Christ, our Lord. As we love God and one another with His love, lives will be changed, starting with ours and flowing out to others. And as we reach out to those who have stopped coming and invite them back in love as well as reaching out to those who have never come, God will continue to abundantly bless and use us as His church. Yes, the best is yet to come! Pastor Tom
