Thanks for picking this up to read.. Our Advertisers are very
special to us, and it helps if you let them know you saw their AD

this newspaper. Maybe youre a visitor. Mark us as a feed to

Star News so we can become known for all it can do
for you...no matter who- YOU are... SMILE, someone likes
you!!!
-
Hello once again as we meet in heat of summer, theres always
things going on around here in Freeport. Some
folks have come back only after 2 years and noticed the
amount of people around the Freeport area.
If youre a visitor, we WELCOME you here to this beautiful place
some of have come to call home. There are transitions taking place
within the Laws of the state and what old
and out dated Laws we have on record in Walton County. Changes
are taking place. Peo-
ple will be fined if situations not properly corrected in 30
days along Hwy. 331.
As you may have noticed we have a little road work going on. Its
the largest project currently underway in the entire state of
Florida. Ive several rumors about taxing us until its complete? Can
someone send me the details of that? We voted, I thought it was
set-tled. Would it not be illegal to continue to collect on
something that has already been
designated an agreement with the County? We are checking back on
what Rick Scott
recently said. Check our website, always daily news bites.
Im sure those of you who know me, see how tough it is to do all
I have to do to make this newspaper happen. Design, material,
layout, writing, editing, formatting and then of
course delivering to you, my potential customers. Is it really
too much to ask for? For
$50 /mo. To let visitors know where you are in FREEPORT? Or are
you just going to let those businesses along Hwy. 331 come in and
take you out? There are no signs,
whats down Hwy. 20? Only this newspaper sits at both corners of
the 331&20 intersec-tion. I turn close to 500 copies in that
area for the visitors to see. Where are you standing with a sign to
come eat at Tjs? Freeport Caf, Hungry Howies? New restaurant across
from Clary-Glenn? Wouldnt you desire to become a place visitors
remember for a good meal and stop place for a long time? You do
realize that we have had this newspaper
going close to eight years now? How many other businesses lasted
that long in FREE-
PORT? People, Im ready to add 4 more pages, please help us out.
Hey Nicks how do people know where or why to make the trip to
Destin coming your way? Maybe you
would get more entries from locals if youd advertise your
tournaments with us. Maybe? Lets make Freeport a town to stop and
eat, relax and so on. Do you see signs to come your way towards the
City Hall? I dont see any at all. The only thing that visitors will
pick-up while standing in Freeport, The Emerald Star News. Its
FREE..so again, I say is it not worth $50/mo to advertise with us?
Go larger I got specials on full pages too.
What about Clary-Glenn jumping back on board with us again? The
newspaper itself
solely survives from our advertisers and your word of mouth.
I guess some of you may know already but when we mentioned the
possibility of hav-
ing I-10 south Hwy. 331 being a scenic corridor on the north
side of the bridge since the
south side of it already is considered that. The person who owns
Silver Sands outlet Mall
wants the entire Hwy. 331 to become scenic corridor all the way
to the Alabama state
line? It would be a nice drive through our long county. However
just think. Would we
get more or less as property value increase, but so wouldnt our
taxes to maintain such a median? Then what I found was there is a
75 setback from it. I dont think the lot sizes around here and
North Walton would benefit from that clause. So, if you here of
any-
thing our if youd like to post a comment. Just E-mail me
anytime. As most of you noticed something missing in our newspaper
since the start of the year
Mr. Dees at WZEP refused us the right to use any of his news.
Why? I dont know, but here we are 7 months later, they didnt run me
off. As long as I keep receiving so many E-mails people liking my
newspaper, I will continue to keep faithful to my readers as
best
as I have been. I tell you all, the good, the not so good..and
yes, we discovered some bad too. As a matter of fact, that reminds
me I run into so many familiar faces around
town and in most cases people introduce themselves and we
discuss a topic or a sugges-
tion for a story. I like that stuff, good debates. Forum
material, yet no one listens? Problem being, is that these people
telling me this information (which by the way is several peo-ple
that I have as resources, not just one). So ease off your money
ways of bullying and scare tac-
tics and let some these folks alone. These people have lived
here as a child and you now want to
have them fear you for your greed of power and or money thinks
you can do what you want? Get
this, these people also have grandkids and future generations
they want to see take over when they
are dead and gone. If they mentioned the Coyote Landfill or even
the word Landfill, people stop
talking. They know when it was dug out and what it was agreed
upon and was supposed to be, even
with a liner to help contain the diseases from it. Look at it
now?
So, just as I have been complaining about neighbor and how my
neighbors feel about this person
at the entrance of our road being ignored. Not zoned for this,
needs to be removed. Think back at
the Land that Walton Recovery has along Hwy. 331. I was at that
meeting. They said they wanted
to use it for 5-15 day storage of a few towed vehicles? Has not
one EPA or Code or even the state
questioned this now 2-3 acre junkyard of vehicles stacked upon
each other exactly, a junk yard?
Now the Hwy. is higher than the fence he put up out front, who
is going to have the debris re-
moved for it is there illegally as well. Im certain no
certification would OK these liquids dumping and the eye sore it
is. Would they? Are you Walton County going to ignore the
inevitable of clean-
ing of zoning area. What your next great idea? Grandfather it in
for it had been like that
about 10yrs now? Thats what you said about setback violators,
less than 1 yr ago. Just like any place else, when I see action, I
believe it more. Too many rumors and lies to sift
through around here. People are not trustworthy, some are, but
rare to find. Thank you.

12-Year-Old Boy Challenges
Obama: 'My Generation
Deserves Answers' A 12-year-old boy has become a YouTube
sensation
with a challenge to President Barack Obama about the
future of the country.
I want to talk to you about your vision for
this nation, Coreco "CJ" Pearson says in
the video addressing
the president.
I also want to talk
about my vision for
my generation with
you," he stated.
"Because like you, I
want to give my generation some change that they can
believe in, Mr. President. I want to give them a future
that they can count on.
Pearson said he wants to engage in a "meaningful dis-
cussion" with Obama about the country's future.
"My generation deserves answers and they deserve a
future, he stated. "I will do whatever it takes to fight
for that future."
Pearson appeared on "Fox and Friends Weekend" this
morning (watch above) to discuss his latest viral video
and how he would question Obama.
"My questions would be quite direct, quite straightfor-
ward," Pearson said. "I wouldn't stick to the softballs,
because I believe if he's going to be the leader of the
free world he deserves to be questioned appropri-
ately."
Pearson also shared what he thinks about Hillary Clin-
ton.
"She's one of the most narcissistic, self-centered poli-
ticians to this day," he stated. "She's plagued with
scandal and does not deserve to be a candidate for the
White House. What I would rather say is that she de-
serves to be a candidate for the federal penitentiary."
****Watch the video on Youtube, this kid gets valid
questions and some harsh remarks to the president.
Sure, most presidents never have the the time to an-
swer any or if any letters or video responses that are
sent his way. But more youth need to think of 10yrs.
I think that more kids this age should be informed
with the facts of reality. Why not? Good and Bad,
dont sugar coat a country with an insane mindset has nuclear
capabilities, dont sugar coat that this year in Chicago alone they
are averaging 14 deaths of young
black folks in inner city gangs. Isis is a real threat,
know where your kids are every night and day.
Medicare tax went from 1.45% to 2.35%
Top Income tax bracket went from 35% to 39.6%
Top Income payroll tax went from 37.4% to 52.2%
Capital Gains tax went from 15% to 28%
Dividend tax went from 15% to 39.6%

A 3.5% Real Estate transaction tax was added.
As a brief reminder for those who may have forgotten, or
for the many that didn't know, here is what happened,
quietly, on January 1, 2015:
Remember this fact: These taxes were all passed solely
with Democrat votes.
Not a single Republican voted for these new taxes.
These taxes were all passed in the 'Affordable Care Act,'
aka 'Obamacare.'
If you think that it is important that everyone in the U.S.
should know this, the many millions who don't yet, then
pass it on.
Hello 2015.. did you know?
Dope-sniffing agents with the U.S. Drug En-forcement
Administration are reportedly spying on all
of the Internet activity in Colombia, according to a
leaked email transmission regarding the federal
agencys surveillance tactics inside the South Ameri-
can country.
Last Monday, an email sent by Eduardo Pardo, who
works as a Field Application Engineer for Hacking
Team, began spreading on Twitter indicating that the
DEA has purchased software that essentially gives
them the power to Big Brother home computers and
smartphones not just in Colombia, but potentially in
the United States.
Hacking Team is a Milan-based tech company that
provides law enforcement and intelligence agencies
all over the world with highly advanced spy ware. The
company, while having made proclamations to not sell
to nations boycotted by the U.S and NATO, is sus-
pected of doing business with questionable regimes
from Sudan to Egypt.
An article published earlier this week in Forbes re-
veals that since the company has expanded its offices
to Maryland, the DEA and FBI has been working
more frequently with the company as they seek to break common
encryption across mobiles and desk-
tops.
Interestingly, in a separate set of email leaked on Sun-
day from the email account of Eric Rabe, communica-
tions chief for Hacking Team, it exposes the organiza-
tion for having a tight working relationship with the
United States government, specifically with the DEA.
The latest email hack, entitled Brief DEA Meeting in Colombia,
confirms this partnership. The message makes mention of the teams
rock star spy tool, Gali-leo, which is a Remote Control Service
that allows
government agencies to listen in on the lives of aver-
age citizens by accessing smartphone features. Essen-
tially, the DEA, or Katie, as the agency is referred to in code
by Hacking Team, has dropped over $2 mil-
lion to turn cell phones all over the world into a bug
that gives them complete control over mobile devices.

Heartburn Meds and Health Risks Millions of Americans have used
heartburn medications called proton
pump inhibitors to help ease pain and discomfort after they eat.
But does
that help come at a price?
A recent study found that the drugs, also known as PPIs, are
linked to a
higher heart attack risk. Theyve been tied to other health
problems as well. PPIs in the study included esomeprazole (Nexium),
lansoprazole
(Prevacid), omeprazole (Prilosec, Zegerid), and others. They're
available
by prescription and over the counter, and both account for $13
billion in
sales worldwide. They reduce the amount of acid your stomach
makes.
That acid can cause a burning pain or discomfort in your chest,
along
with a bitter taste in your mouth.
The medicines may also treat ulcers and prevent damage to the
esopha-
gus caused by reflux. WebMD turned to two experts and asked them
to
put the new study and previous research in perspective.
What exactly did the study look at and find?
Researchers looked at medical records representing nearly 3
million
people. Some were taking PPIs and others were taking another
type of
heartburn medicine, H2 blockers: cimetidine (Tagamet),
famotidine
(Pepcid), nizatidine (Axid), or ranitidine (Zantac). No one had
a history
of heart disease. Those who used the PPIs were more likely to
have a
heart attack than those who did not take the drugs, the
researchers re-
ported.
No similar link was found with H2 blockers. The researchers
found only
a link between PPIs and heart attacks, though -- they cant prove
that PPIs actually raise the heart attack risk. Earlier research
found PPIs can
harm blood vessel lining. That finding led researchers to study
if the
drugs were linked to a higher risk for heart attack.
"Based on the study, they would estimate the increased risk of a
heart
attack is about 16%," says Brian Lacy, MD, PhD, section chief of
gas-
troenterology and hepatology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical
Center.
He was not involved in the study.
The 16% increased risk ''sounds big, very large," Lacy says.
"However,
you have to put that in perspective of how many heart attacks
actually
occur. "I think the real message here is, if there is a
relationship -- which
I am not convinced about -- the effect is very small," Lacy
says. Does
the risk depend on how long you take the drug? "We can't tell
from
this study," Lacy says. "We don't know whether it's the length
of time
on the PPI, the dose, or some other variable." Were these
medicines
meant to be used long-term? People who take prescription PPIs
usu-
ally stay on them for 6 months, the FDA says. Over-the-counter
PPIs are
meant to be used for 14 days and only up to three times a year.
But doc-
tors say some people stay on them much longer. If you feel a
need that
we can help you with just stop in or make an appt.

Donald Trump Threatened
by Sinaloa Drug Cartel
Leader
Donald Trump, the infamous American industrialist
and Republican presidential hopeful, could end up
with his head on a stick before making it too far down
the road to the White House. On Monday, Trump re-
portedly called in the forces of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation to probe into a recent Twitter threat by
Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, the cutthroat-in-chief of
the Sinaloa Cartel, who tunneled his way out of a high
-level security prison over the weekend just outside of
Mexico City.
Since declaring his pursuit for the Republican nomina-
tion, Trump has not gone out of his way to make any
friends along the campaign trail, most recently chas-
tising Mexican immigrants for being a scourge of
criminals and drug dealers that migrate to the Land of
the Free to perpetuate the black market drug trade and
rape American women. The billionaire also suggested
that corrupt Mexican officials were responsible for facilitating
El Chapos Hollywood jailbreak, and that it could be another 13
years, if at all, before the king-
pin is back in custody.
These comments, apparently, struck a war nerve
within the notorious dope slinging fugitive. On Sun-
day, a Twitter account under the name Joaquin
Guzman Loera unleashed a furious message against
Trump that suggests his life could be in jeopardy if he
continues to spew his loud-mouth rhetoric against the
Sinaloas.
"Keep screwing (with us) and I'm going to make you
eat your fucking words you lousy white fa88ot," wrote
@ElChap0Guzman.
Although no one has yet been able to confirm the au-
thenticity of the drug lords Twitter handle, Mexican officials
told Reuters the conveyed message was
probably written by an imposter.
However, a statement issued earlier this week by a
Trump assistant suggests that not only is Donny tak-
ing the threat seriously, but he is also running scared
and seeking peace of mind with the help of the federal
investigators. And, the truth is, we cant say that we
blame him.
The Sinaloas are one of the most vicious cartels in the history
of narcotic warfare, maintaining a heavy
presence in the United States, especially with consid-
eration to the illegal methamphetamine and heroin
trade. In February, just six months before El Chapo
made his escape, the Chicago Crime Commission and
the Chicago chapter of the Drug Enforcement Admini-
stration deemed the Mexican cartel boss Public En-
emy Number 1 a well-deserved titled considering law enforcement
is holding the Sinaloas responsible for a large percentage of the
recorded 425 murders
across the city in 2014.
A report published today by the Associated Press
finds the DEA was fully aware that El Chapo was
planning to break out of prison, warning Mexican
officials of potential operations to free Guzman
-
Code enforcement, your organization needs to be named something
different. Because of
your system of complaint call-in is the only way you go check
situations out. So, in turn you make neighbors enemies and the
level only increases when you slap they hand, they
clean up for a week or two. Then again, once must complain to
get you to stay atop of what
you know has been an issue for 10yrs? I have received over 40
complaints that people have
filed about zoning and junk, debris in yards. All you have done
is close your case to make
you look good to your board. Why cant the public approach this
board? when several folks feel you wasted our time with some of
your final renderings? Which a couple, you must
think we are blind. People CALL IN complaints only to end up in
court later due to making
the ordeal a personal issue now. Wasnt it a civil complaint
required by your system needed in order for you to investigate in
the 1st place?
You cause us Folks more Harm than Good. You drive past an
illegal operation improper
zoning violations everyday for years and it still takes us
neighbors to call in cause you dont see it. Unless we complain.
Thanks to your system some of us neighbors are in civil court
wasting money when all had to do was do your job. Defend the
zonings that are in place forcefully with fines so there is no yrs.
that go by. How about that? Sound right?
No one should be allowed to get away with so many violations
over the years as all you do
is pat them on the back on how to beat your system. Close your
case, drive in A/C trucks
paid for by us tax payers. And yet you seem to Not be of help to
citizens individually. Its because of your system that makes the
situation worse and more toxic between folks. Ten-
sions run high because one thinks/ knows he got over on you. So,
our living standards drop
because of one individual violating the long time standing
zoning of our residence. Give
em 30 days, then another , then another. What a way to play you.
Trust me from the stories I been told about enforcement to real
issues. But pester a man wanting to make more room
for his family home. Go after the big time condo buildings and
slap up houses these Mexi-
cans are making. They keep us in work for they do shabby work
and constantly repairs are
needed in new homes? Go figure. Mess with an honest man in his
own home, thats what your about? Stress out the lil guy, ignore the
big $$ operations going on illegally. If you fined these violators
hard enough some will not try to do it again and risk getting
caught with a more of a severe punishment, Agree?
Sound right to you? People of Walton start filming the police,
any county administra-
tion. Any position that their salary comes from our taxes. Why?
Its your right! There has been many shady dealings and several
totally illegal deals and who pays? We do,
the people who live near these places. Health issues, home
values decrease for when it
begins to rain and the smell seeps up. Let the Dr.s guess what
you got cause the land you build upon is contaminated. The purpose
of any citizen formed organization. Its purpose is intent on making
living spaces livable so we all can enjoy this beautiful area
around us in peace. Left alone to enjoy with people you know and
trust.
Hard to do with dozers, trailers being shuffled all hours, no
one wants that at home?

Russ Barley / Mayor-Freeport, Fl.
Greetings from the Mayors Office I would like to begin this post
about the fact that the city/county pool has been
closed for the past week due to maintenance being done and will
remain closed
until I give further notice for it to open. I have read
different allegations about
the pool and myself concerning its safety and the closing of the
pool. Let me
be first to state that the safety for everyone at the pool is of
the citys utmost importance and that while everyone may not agree
with the operation of the
pool, that it is in the best interest of all concerned. For
those of you who make
your comments I would like to invite you to come to a council
meeting and
learn how the process works as far as decisions being made on
whatever the
subject matter is and the hiring and firing of employees etc.,
after viewing
some of the comments many have no clue.
Budget workshops begin this week so that we can put in place the
department
budgets for the coming year. Freeports Strategic Goals are now
in place and have been prioritized and now the city engineers will
look into funding that
may be available to accomplish some of the goals- we will keep
you informed
as things develop. The council voted to purchase a new sound
system and
score board for the Freeport Sports Complex and this will take
place in the
near future. We recently held another ribbon cutting ceremony
for The Gypsy
Mermaid now located on Highway 20 in with the Trinity Spa and we
have an-
other ribbon cutting for a new business this week- Wagz Boutique
located in
the Freeport Industrial Park, please stop by and show your
support of the new
businesses that are coming into the city. I have been asked to
be a part of a
discussion panel for the Florida League of Cities in Orlando at
the conference
in August and will be speaking on Projects-Growth and Focusing
on the Fu-ture in regards to Freeport and I look forward to
presenting and talking about our fair city. We are hoping that in
the very near future that we can begin our
outdoor pavilion behind city hall which will be used for
concerts, plays, and
movie nights, we will keep you posted on this progress as well.
Again, I am
asked everyday about the progress with the Publix Supermarket
and the latest
is that the clearing of the land is to begin on July 27th of
2015, changes had to
be made therefore, and additional paperwork and approval was
needed to move
forward. I will keep you informed as we move forward with this
project, as I
know that you are anxious for this to begin. Again, the council
meets the sec-
ond Tuesday and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM and
everyone is
invited to attend to come and learn about the city and its
operation and you as a
citizen of this city has an opportunity to speak with your
questions on any sub-
ject. The door is always open for you and we are working to do
the best job
that we can for everyone involved.
At the directive of Mayor Russ Barley, the Freeport
City Pool is hereby closed indefinitely for repairs.

Hacking Teams message verifies this technology is already in
position inside the American embassy in Bogota, which is enough to
cause some concerns right here in the United States. In the email
leaks that took place over last weekend, several U.S. agencies
voiced whether the implementation of this spy ware would be legal
on Ameri-
can soil. Because of this, the DEA said it was simply opting to
employ to program in foreign lands where it would be less
problematic. Yet, considering the underhanded acts this agency has
been responsible for throughout the years, the concept of this

Grand jury planning to investigate
Walton County planning department It was told that a grand jury
was impaneled Monday to take a hard look at
the Walton County Planning Department and the way it has been
managed
for the last 15 years. State Attorney Bill Eddins said he will
present evidence
the week of Aug. 24.
Theyll be looking at areas of concern I have regarding the
Planning De-
partment of Walton County and the management of the Planning
Department
over the last several years, Eddins said.
The State Attorneys Office and the Walton County Sheriffs Office
have
been investigating the county Planning Department since
February, Eddins
said. Agents have pored over hundreds of documents, many of
which have
raised questions, he said.
The areas of concern go back many years, Eddins said, to before
a 2005
mistake resulted in the departments failure to collect the great
majority of
a $600,000 recreational fee from developers of Lakeside at Blue
Mountain
Beach.
The grand jury will examine evidence from 2000 right up to the
present day,
Eddins said. A document discussing the uncollected $600,000 was
included
in a batch of evidence that prompted the Sheriffs Office and
State Attor-
neys Office to open their investigation, Eddins said.
He declined to provide details of findings other than the
unaccounted for
$600,000. Eddins said his office will not be seeking indictments
when it
goes to the grand jury, but added that the investigation
continues.
Its even possible the grand jury will take the initial
information it receives
and decide to expand the scope of the inquiry, Eddins said.
Healthmark Health Matters The art of aging gracefully Healthy
aging is important for everybody. No matter how young and healthy a
person may
be today, one day they will face the same issues as seniors do
now. Whether it concerns
weight gain, mobility or chronic diseases, the key to healthy
aging is a healthy lifestyle. Eat-
ing a variety of healthy foods, practicing portion control and
enjoying regular physical activ-
ity can go a long way toward promoting healthy aging. It is
never too late to make healthier
lifestyle choices.
However, according to researchers at Mayo Clinic, anyone
considering anti-aging therapies
such as restrictive diets, supplements or expensive treatments
claiming to postpone or even
reverse the aging process, should be cautious. There's no quick
fix for healthy aging, so be-
ware suspicious schemes that sound too good to be true. They
usually are.
One way to age gracefully is to prevent slips and falls. As we
get older, physical changes
and health conditions can make falls more likely. In fact, falls
are a leading cause of injury
among older adults. Still, fear of falling does not need to rule
a persons life. Start by making an appointment with a physician
skilled in occupational medicine, espe-
cially if you have fallen before. That doctor can review your
medications for side effects and
interactions that may increase the risk of falling and may
consider reducing certain medica-
tions, such as sedatives and some types of antidepressants.
Certain eye and ear disorders may increase the risk of falls.
Tell your physician if you feel
any dizziness, joint pain, numbness or shortness of breath when
you walk.
Fortunately, regular physical activity can go a long way toward
fall prevention. With a doc-
tor's approval, consider gentle activities such as walking,
water workouts in a pool or some
type of easy aerobic exercise that involves slow and graceful
movements. Such activities
reduce the risk of falls by improving strength, balance,
coordination and flexibility.
Consider footwear as part of a fall-prevention plan. High heels,
floppy slippers and shoes
with slick soles can make a person slip, stumble and fall.
Walking in stocking feet or socks is
also dangerous. Instead, wear properly fitting, sturdy shoes
with nonskid soles.
Finally, look around the house. Rooms, hallways and stairways
can be filled with hazards.
Consider handrails in these areas. Remove boxes, newspapers,
electrical cords and phone
cords from walkways. Move coffee tables, magazine racks and
plant stands from high-traffic
areas. Secure loose rugs with double-faced tape, tacks or remove
them altogether. Repair
loose floorboards and carpeting and always use nonslip mats in
the bathtub or shower.
Some solutions are easy and relatively inexpensive. Others may
require professional help,
but remember - an investment in fall prevention is an investment
in ones own independence. To make an appointment with an
occupational medicine specialist, contact Dr. Mark Hash
at Healthmark Walk-In Clinic at (850) 951-4556.

personal residential impacting both the Personal Lines/Coastal

We Thank you Lord for giving us this day. For all our friends,

FREEPORT in the best direction we can grow to become all we can,
for our future and of our children. Amen!
Funny. Look
the Editor is Capricorn..
It might all come to down to organization - and whether or not
you feel prepared for a shift in responsi-
bilities. It might also be that a certain person is particularly
'precious' about a task they consider to be
'theirs'. Of course, it could be you that's holding things
close. the issue of how best to delegate and to fo-
cus on how a 'bright idea' can be made to happen will surely
require concerted effort: which might require
engaging with a Gemini whom you feel to be focused on the
negative.
Your affairs (especially property and career-related) should
soon take on new rhythm. True, you might
not be entirely happy with developments. By Friday however, when
your two ruling planets reach new
phase, you should once again be back in touch with latent
idealism. It's arguable that you know more than
any other sign that you can attract what you really need.
Don't be surprised if you feel 'up against it' in the days
leading into New Moon. And yes, some of what's
ahead may be an echo from late 2014. There is a big difference
now in the way you're likely to handle
this: you might even be exhilarated by the challenge. Go for it,
just do it.
It might seem to you that someone is determined to put obstacles
in your way ahead of New Moon.
They'd be wrong to under-estimate your determination however.
Not only could you rise to this challenge,
you could also show just how important it is to stick to
original plans. You know from experience that
when these are altered costs rise. Holding your nerve most
likely won't be a problem.
It's not hard to imagine you being caught in a power-struggle in
the days leading into New Moon. It may
be that you haven't had the support (capitalization) you've
really needed and that now, in exhausted state,
you're not sure if you can carry on. You might even say as much
as the working week begins. New Moon
should usher in a whole new phase though. Listening to your
intuition rather than assuming support, you
could yet carve out a new path.
It seems likely that for the last few years you've attracted
high-powered and unusual but gifted people into
your world. This week another could enter. True, their timing
could be so much better. It's possible this
will bring a constructive career move - but may be rather more
than you can think about presently.
There's high probability of you experiencing this in your
imagination - which suggests that a creative idea
could burst out and demand attention by next weekend. All this
may be driven by huge exasperation with
someone whose negative attitude may now be too much for you to
handle.
One of your great gifts is the ability to tie up loose ends.
News reaching you at the start of the week could
make clear just how maverick someone has been - and therefore
what's likely to have been over-looked.
This could leave you wound-up but, in the days leading up to
that moment will be worth the wait.
There is the potential for you to be uprooted or, at the very
least, rethinking aims and objectives and how
these can be made to work with emotional needs. Of course all
this could be driven by financial pressures.
It might even be that essential work is going to prove more
expensive than you first thought. Yet it's also
possible that you've been prevaricating and that action MUST now
be taken.
You can think of this as reaching a new ocean but having both
the courage and the right 'boat' to set sail.
Even before the weekend you could be cruising in calm waters.
First though it seems you'll have to nego-
tiate rapids or, more likely, carry that boat to the water's
edge. And yes, physically this could be truly de-
manding. It surely won't help when others say you are 'doing too
much'. They'd be wrong to under-
estimate your persistence and determination however.
You may have been planning a make-over for some time and might
be pleased that progress is at last being
made. Yet you might not be entirely comfortable with what's
exposed in the process. Those really close to
you will surely understand and be supportive: others could find
this illuminating to the point that they won-
der what else you might have hidden. To deflect this attention
you could announce a scheme before the
weekend that shows you have vision and a plan.
One possibility is that you get caught up in a power-struggle
midweek and that it takes a few days for ten-
sion to blow over. True, it may be that you need to hear and see
what others are so passionate about. Is it
possible that you've under-estimated the history of why things
are run as they are? You might need to listen
very carefully (yes, even to highly emotional outburst) and then
allow space before giving a considered
reply. There is nothing you cant handle. Rise to the top once
again, lead the way, your in charge!
Dear Editor,

Dear Editor, I know they say that newspapers are a dying
breed but I think your style as charismatic way
you write. Its wonderful to hear someone tell it like it is.
Everyone around here at likes they know so
much yet no one but you are game to face the
facts head-on. If the people around here get smart
they would help you get more copies and pages.
In due time, Im sure it will happen for you. Your hard work will
pay big in the end.
Mr. & Mrs. Wilbertson
Dear Editor, It was nice to meet you last week. Ive heard so
much and been a fan of your writing for a
while now. You have made big improvements, it
shows you learned well from a few of those other
editors you had proof reading.
Im sure they are proud of you as they read your work today. If
want boring sad news we got

Maybe soon those folks in DFS will see your
location and realize they can benefit from adver-
tising with you too.
From all of us who love your newspaper, we
thank you. For being forthright. We thank you.

Employment: Now that
marijuana is legal, a work-
place piss test only proves
that you consumed a legal
product sometime in the
past. Beer drinkers and cigar
smokers can enjoy their
products every night and
never fear a surprise test at work the next morning will cost
them
their careers. Employers must adopt NORML's Model Workplace
Policy for Cannabis, and consumers should direct their
business
away from those employers that discriminate against us
(especially
if that piss-testing company seeks to do business directly in
the can-

Health Care: Cannabis consumers in legal states still face
health
care discrimination in the form of denial of organ transplants,
denial

Parenting: Cannabis consumers in legal states can still lose

parent
accuses the other parent of child neglect or endangerment due to

Doughnut Shop Owner: Police
and Media are Wrong, I Want
to Press Charges Against
Ariana Grande
The owner of the doughnut shop where pop
star Ariana Grande licked and spit on several
doughnuts is disputing a police report that
claimed he declined to file charges against
Grande over the incident.
Joe Marin, owner of Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsi-
nore, told Toronto radio station KISS 92.5 that he
doesnt know where the report that he de-
clined to file charges
came from, because he wants charges brought
against Grande over the
incident, in which the
pop star licked several doughnuts she had not
purchased before saying, I hate Americans. I
hate America.
No, I did press charges, Marin told the radio station. And then
when I was reading the news-papers, it said my name, that I decided
not to, and
I dont know where that came from.
In a statement Monday, the Riverside County
Sheriffs Department had said that Marin had declined to press
charges against Ms. Grande and directed all further inquiries to
the Riverside
County Department of Environmental Health.
Deputy Sheriff Michael Vasquez had confirmed
to People magazine that Marin had declined to
press criminal charges against Ms. Grande.
But Marin said that is not what happened. The
doughnut shop owner detailed the exchange he
had with Lake Elsinore police:
The last time I talked to the police officer, he told me, How
many doughnuts did she lick? Then I said, Well, she licked two of
them and spit on two of them And then he said, Well, how many
doughnuts are you out?.. How much
are your doughnuts? I said A dollar a piece. Then the cop said,
Ok, so basically, you lost four dollars. And then I said, Well,
thats not the
point, though.'
Marin also said that local people who had viewed
the video were all on his side, and that police had caused him a
headache when they told him
they could not view the surveillance footage on
their equipment and made him transfer it to a CD.
I think she (Grande) should be pressed with charges, because the
thing is, just because shes popular, and if it was one of us, like
a regular
customer, yeah, they would do something about
it.
Marin added that even if Grande apologized di-
rectly to him for licking the doughnuts, something
she has not addressed in either of her two apolo-
gies, he still would not drop charges against her.
Wolfee Donuts received a heath downgrade to a
B rating last week after an Environmental Health inspector
visited the shop in the wake of
the incident. The shop can remain open while it
works to correct the violations.

Theres No Place like Home By Rian Lyday
If you go anywhere, even paradise, you will miss your home.
-Malala Yousafzai
We have been traveling all summer, most of the time
spent with my niece during her chemo treatments, and
let me tell you, there is no place like Walton county.
Yes, I love traveling and seeing the world through my
sons eyes, but I love to be home even more. While in
Orlando for a teacher conference, this topic came up.
We were staying at the swanking Ritz Carlton, sur-
rounded by down-town Orlando, and all we could talk
about was how much we love where we live. My family
is a relatively new addition to the Walton county area,
this is our 4th year here, but I could not feel more at
home and long more for a place, then when I am gone.
What makes us that way? I use to be happiest when
skipping all over the world and looking for new adven-
turesnow I would rather do anything I can to live in
the four walls of my house on the weekends. I think it
has to do with finding where you belong, a place you
feel safe, a place where you can let down all pretenses
and lounge in your comfy clothes (I know you all have
them). When I walked in my house after being gone for
roughly a month, all I wanted to do was lay down and
enjoy the place that we call home. Walton county is a
place that still teaches children to say mam and sira
place where the local caf asks about your child by
namea place where people still wave, whether they
know you or not. Thank you Walton county, for giving
my family a place where I dont worry about things like
school shootings or leaving my car unlocked. Yes, I
know that this is not true in every square of our county
but look at the statistics, life is good here. Enjoy where
you live and work to keep it a place people want to
come home to. Think about one small thing you can do
differently to help keep out the chaos that the rest of our
country faces. Appreciate your neighbor and tell them
you do every once in a while. For now, I am still click-
ing my ruby flip-flops and chanting, theres no place
like home..
