Sometimes it is hard to see what the future will look like, what life after COVID-19 will resemble. What is certain, is that now more than ever, Temple Sinai needs you, and we need you to believe in Temple Sinai. We need you to remember the good times that we have had in our beautiful building - the Simchas, the heartfelt services, the tears and the connections. Close your eyes and hear the music of our heritage, and the laughter of the children echoing through the building. Remember the feeling of walking through the doors to see smiling, welcoming faces greet you with warmth and love. At Temple Sinai membership is something special. It is a gateway to a community of support, prayer, kindness and love. Temple Sinai gives families the ability to preserve memories of the past while creating memories for our future. At Temple Sinai, we give the next generation the tools to create a future filled joy, peace and hope. Temple Sinai must continue to cultivate the power of Jewish prayer, learning and culture. Our clergy, board and staff are doing everything possible to ensure that Temple Sinai continues to be a vibrant home for Reform Judaism in Las Vegas. With our collective efforts, we create ways to connect to you, to keep Temple Sinai and Judaism in your heart. We will continue to virtually engage, educate and uplift you. As soon as it is safe to do so, we will open our doors to pray, learn and schmooze, just as we have always done. It is not without acknowledgement of the world pandemic that we send this renewal letter. We understand and are sensitive to the financial hardship that many of our Temple families may be facing. For those who may need either spiritual support or financial assistance, please reach out to us. We are here for you and want to ensure that you remain a part of our Temple family. We hope that you can see what the Temple has to offer you, and what you have to offer to the Temple. We are hopeful that the members of our Temple community that have not been financially affected by COVID-19, can give a little more this year, to help those who find themselves in a more insecure financial situation. As always, we appreciate every member of Temple Sinai. We are a thriving Jewish community because you are a part of our family. We know that our strength as Jews will carry us through the uncertainty that we are all facing. We are all dreaming of the day when we can once again see each other in our building, our sanctuary, our home. Thank you for your commitment to Temple Sinai. July 1, 2020 Dear Friends, We are pleased to announce Temple Sinai’s participation in the Jewish Nevada’s community-wide LIFE & LEGACY program in partnership with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel wrote: “In this hour we, the living, are the people of Israel. The tasks, begun by our ancestors and prophets and continued by their descendants, are now entrusted to us. We are either the last Jews or those who will hand over the entire past to generations to come. We will either forfeit or enrich the legacy of ages.” A legacy fulfills a spiritual ideal. Each one of us has the power to leave a legacy – one that fulfills our passions and dreams, and also one that carries on the legacy of those who came before us. Please consider the importance of Temple Sinai to you and your family. Help us to ensure that Temple Sinai has a vibrant and vital tomorrow. A planned gift continues into posterity and enables our children’s children to participate in a positive Jewish life, full of pride in our sacred traditions. There are many different ways to provide sustenance or resources to ensure our congregation’s future. A conversation with our LIFE & LEGACY team will help you explore the idea. By consulting with your financial and legal advisor, a plan can be designed that will provide the best advantages for you while creating significant benefits for our synagogue. If you have already included a legacy gift in your will or estate plans, THANK YOU! Kindly notify us so that we can thank you now and recognize your commitment with an invitation to our newly established Legacy Circle, a group of loyal donors like you. Through the LIFE & LEGACY program, we work together to secure the necessary resources for our Jewish future. We look forward to speaking with you about this exciting program in the coming months. With our best wishes for a vibrant tomorrow,
Malcolm Cohen Ilana Shapiro Nancy Shinder Rabbi President LIFE & LEGACY Coordinator

Membership Referral Program*
The best way to spread the word about the benefits of becoming a member of the Temple Sinai community is through our current members. We would like to offer the following: If you are a full dues paying member of Temple Sinai and you refer a new member, you could receive up to a 50% discount on your dues the following year, as long as the referred member joins prior to September 1, 2020, and remains a member in good standing. The discount will apply to your membership dues only, not to any security fee, tuition or building fund payments that may be due.
• The name(s) of any potential new referral member(s) must be communicated to the Executive Director prior to their joining.
• The potential new referral member(s) must not have previously been a member of Temple Sinai.
• The referring member must be a full dues paying member in order to participate in the program.
• The referred new member must remain a member in good standing throughout the year. • If the conditions listed above are met, the referring member will receive up to a 50%
discount on the referring member’s next fiscal year’s dues, not to exceed the normal amount of published dues for the category of the referred member.
• If the referred new member joins after September 1, 2020, the discount will be delayed by 1 year.
• If the referred new member was referred by more than one member, the referring members will split the discount percentage.
• There is a limit of 2 new members you can refer in a given year. *Please note: This Program is in addition to the Gift Certificate Program that has been in effect for the past 3 years. If you are a full dues paying member, you will still receive a gift certificate to offer someone a 1-year free membership. It is up to you whether you offer a potential new member the gift certificate or whether you encourage them to become a dues paying member immediately.
As the new Temple Sinai year begins, we would like to invite you to join or renew your membership with our Sisterhood. Temple Sinai’s Sisterhood is an integral part of our synagogue and our members participate in the varied forms of synagogue life. As an arm of the temple, we provide financial support as well as volunteers wherever needed. In addition, we are members of Women of Reform Judaism, and as such, we finance and support women’s issues around the world. Please join us for many of our exciting events planned for the coming year.
Attached please find the membership form. Dues are just $36 for the year; they can be dropped off at the temple office or at the gift shop. We look forward to meeting you and hearing the many ideas you have for sisterhood this year. Thank you for your support.
