The quality of your thinking is the most The quality of your thinking is the most important component of an information important component of an information

system.” Do you agree with this statement? system.” Do you agree with this statement?

Yes, I agree with this statement 100%.The five components:oHardware (Actor)oSoftware (Instructions)oData (Bridge)oProcedures (Instructions)oPeople (Actor)are vital in the information system, but in the end the human must make an educated decision on how to act from the information that has resulted from the use of the information system.

Do you think it is even possible to say that Do you think it is even possible to say that one component is the most important one?one component is the most important one?

All components play a crucial role in the information system, but I strongly believe that people have the most important role.

People can have all the information in the world at there finger tips, but what is the information systems worth if the end decision is wrong? People can improve there learning skills through experience and changing the way one absorbs information.

Computer Engineer vs. MIS Computer Engineer vs. MIS ProfessorProfessor

Computer EngineersFind their answers and deal with problems through hardware and software since they use computers everyday, they don’t need people for information they would think that it’s a waste of time.

MIS Professor Find that the main component is people(you). Even if they have the perfect information system, if they do not know what to do with the information that it produces they are wasting their time and money.

They are both correct, the difference is a matter of perspective, conflicting perspectives can all be true at the same time

Is it possible to improve the Is it possible to improve the quality of your thinking?quality of your thinking?

Yes it is possible, you can never stop learning different ways to improve your thinking.oPerspectives

Having other point of views on situations is a good way on improving your thinking.

oInformationGathering sources is one of the best way to improve your thinking.

oRethinkingHaving seconds thoughts or doubts can sometimes improve your answers.

consider Bateson's definition, "Information is a difference consider Bateson's definition, "Information is a difference that makes a difference," How can this definition be used that makes a difference," How can this definition be used to advantage when designing a Web page?to advantage when designing a Web page?

it means the life 'context', the dynamics of interactions with the environment , new situation, object, sign, and situation. Because every individual has very distinct structure of memory •The very important part of your webpage is its layout. Its look directly affects the audience to visit your webpage again.

•Your web site is your shop window and it is open 24/7. It needs to be eye catching and transmit your message in a few seconds.oYou can also use flash animations, music, and graphics in it to attract audiences.

why someone who specializes in quantities' why someone who specializes in quantities' methods might consider this definition to methods might consider this definition to be useless. How can the same definition be be useless. How can the same definition be both useful and useless? both useful and useless?

because many management use difference scores to report results of empirical studies..can substantially reduce the problems of difference scores. This note demonstrates what can happen when difference scores are used as dependent variables in research and demonstrates an alternative method of data

"Information is a difference that makes a difference•For the specializes in quantities method can be a useless•many management use difference scores to report results of empirical studies•Useful •attract customers•more publicity

Open-Ended QuestionsOpen-Ended Questions Some student hate open-

ended questions. They want questions that have one correct answer, like 7.3 miles per hour. When given a question like that in a question 4, a question that has multiple, equally valid answers, some students get angry or frustrated. They want the book or the professor to give them the answer. How do you feel about this matter?

Open-Ended questionsOpen-Ended questionsare those that will

always start with the W and H words. The process of answering them we’ll have to find a KEY word in the breakdown of the answers. The purpose of the professors is to develop a stream line, focus, and to lacer in all the sources given as answer.

Studies made in big companies like work areas and interviewing prospect employees had seen that the free-answer (question) is uninfluenced, it bring out a wide variety of responses. It makes a good introduction to a subject, it provides a background for interpreting answers to other questions. It can be used to solicit suggestion. To obtain elaborations, to extract reasons, to evaluate arguments, to explore knowledge and memory, and to classify respondents. There is no evidence that open questions possess the advantage of being more productive of depth. Neither is there any direct evidence that open questions produce more valid answers, but close questions offer more definite advantages than open questions in research interviews.

I sometimes enjoy open ended questions because of the answers! People have to think, reason and then construct the answer revealing a little bit of their personality in the way of doing soI don't think that to actually indicate that someone has knowledge he/she does not have to know all the words exactly one by one...so I don't like them, not because I don't get them right because I don't think it makes sense

Page 12: JULIAN HORMILLAJOHANA OCAMPOMANNY RAMIREZ. ANA CARDONA MGS 3040-04 Group A.

If the answers are the same but with a key word that makes it the correct one, I personally hate it because its being tricky with our mind, and we are not giving an answer in our perspective, we are answering in other person perspective. If the answer can be giving my perspective and advocating it I personally believe that’s more healthy for the student in proving other possible correct views.

Do you think someone can improve the quality of his or her thinking by learning to hold multiple, contradictory ideas in mind at the same time? Or, do you think that doing so just leads to indecisive and ineffective thinking?

A Clear HeadRational critical thinkers are generally the voices of reason in times of mass hysteria or panic. As Franklin D. Roosevelt said, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." The critical thinker usually has the comprehensive skills to consider all possible options and solve a problem.

Page 16: JULIAN HORMILLAJOHANA OCAMPOMANNY RAMIREZ. ANA CARDONA MGS 3040-04 Group A.

Smarter, Quicker The critical thinker remains calm and knows when he is right. Critical thinkers are less likely to fall for scams or tricks because they approach everything with a healthy amount of skepticism. Those who lack critical thinking skills often assume that everything they hear is true, regardless of the source.

Time-SavingTime-Saving

Critical thinkers consider all options before they act. If time is an important factor, they consider the fastest method of achieving a goal. They may even discover a shortcut. Critical thinkers embody the phrase "work smarter, not harder." They are masters of efficiency.

Decision Decision Making/EmploymentMaking/Employment

Many of the highest paying jobs require critical thinking skills, such as generating effective ideas and making important decisions. Job interviewers often ask applicants questions that test their ability to think critically. Critical thinking skills may also be a deciding factor when an employee seeks a promotion.

Page 19: JULIAN HORMILLAJOHANA OCAMPOMANNY RAMIREZ. ANA CARDONA MGS 3040-04 Group A.

PerspectivePerspective

A critical thinker has the self-awareness to know the difference between a rational thought based on careful consideration and an emotional response based on personal bias. Emotion is the enemy of reason. By understanding your own perspective, you can also consider the perspective of others and come to a conclusion based on fact, not feelings.
