Edible Gingerbread House.
Edible Architecture in the form of a gingerbread, chocolate and confectionery house, with a popcorn ‘popping’ chimney and a lawn lined with cupcakes. The feast was held at The Brunswick Centre, London on behalf of Great Ormond Street.

Whilst working for Alma-nac Collaborative Architecture I was responsible for the design and construction of one of the main components of the installation along with the arrangement of this within the whole project. As the materials used for the project were mainly items that have rarely been used often not at all in construction, we had to experiment and frequently alter the design during the construction process. Although the deadlines were tight, the finished design proved to be flawless in quality, standing the test of time, with many voracious children all trying to demolish this visually splendid structure.
Gingerbread shingles baked to 200oC and treated with sugar/water mix.

Extruded candy cane to structural engineers specification.

100mm Insulation (Victoria with jam) to achieve a light/fluffy value of 0.18ks/m2.

Oakley Park: Bungalow Extension - RIBA Stage D.This design was for a client that wanted to increase the size of his dwelling for an extended family to reside in; this was resolved by adding an extra floor to the original footprint of the house. In doing this we could create an entrance that would give an instant impact on the senses of bypasses, to do this we refined the concept creating a roof that gives the impression of it floating above the rendered building facade. This gives the design more of an aesthetic complexity to compliment the flush rendered finish.

Animal Cineration Proposal - RIBA Stage F.
Jordon Lambert.
For the initial design we developed the form of this required niche building from a series of precedents given to us by the client. He had several crematoriums, however they were all refurbished and he wanted a purpose built crematorium to be his northern headquarters. After consultation with the client, we finally came up with a design that would suit both the client and the needs of the structure. The design has been submitted to planning and construction of the building should begin before the end of the year.
Due to the nature of the site, being green-belt, the crematorium has to have a cemetery on site so that it could be approved for planning.

Stage 1: Base frame placed on site.
Stage 3: Library modular unit placed into the structure.
Stage 4: Waffle frame slotted onto the arches.
Stage 5: Solar skin placed between arches and inflated.
Stage 6: Several units can be installed to create several spaces.
Stage 2: Arches slotted into the footings.
The design concept is routed from a fictitious intelligent material Aquarius from Frank Miller’s comic book Ronin that expands and take over a futuristic dystopian city.
The design for the modular libraries located around Burslem was a student project designed to create an intervention from a major issue in the area, literacy. They are configured in a manor to allow the individual units to connect, via the doorways, a simple steel lock can attach to another frame to allow for the units to attach together creating a series of spaces. The intervention is a nomadic design and can be used for exhibitions, markets ect. Inside each module is a library shelving unit that is bespoke for several different needs of the space, these are prefabricated and can be placed on site when required. The design uses a waffle frame and a skin system is slotted in to proved an insulated space. The material is a conceptual design, known as Solar Skin. It uses flexible PV Panels that are inside the skin to provide energy for the design.

Pigeon-Loft:Winning Design.
This design was for a competition to create a pigeon loft in the Birmingham region of Digbeth for an organization: Project Pigeon. The brief stated not to use CAD software where by the design could only be represented by drawings and the use of models.
For my design I explored how pigeons live and operate. Using this research I developed my design on the shape of the their wings, to form a natural graceful structure. This has created a unique and exciting experience that helps to make the upkeep of the pigeons more simplistic.
The individual prefabricated pods; entered by the pigeons from breaks in the exterior facade to access the central structure. The structure uses strips of recycled wood not only to further enhance the aesthetics but also to insulate the interior and give the design a higher U value.
My design won the competition consisting of around 90 students and is currently awaiting construction.

Regional Seed Bank:Café Design.A finite change on a dormant site, producing the catalyst needed for spontaneous development emerging from the host building creating natural forms in harmony with it’s surroundings.
This is a project from my second year in study where I had to create part of a Regional Seed
Bank, specifically the public reception/café. With the prospect of creating more unique architecture I decided to
use a more inventive form of design.
Parasitic architecture is an adaptable, transient and exploitive form of architecture that forces relationships with host buildings in order to subsist.
I have replicated this concept in my design with the unusual form leaching onto the refurbished warehouse (the accommodation/ reception) syphoning its surplus energy to thrive,
without the ‘host’ the cafe would be powerless and eventually cease to operate. The Café’s shape has been based around the germination of a seed probing for light.
