REvolution. These last years, we introduced two main and Duke exclusive technologies : the SLS manufacturing process and the Duke 6TERS, composed of differenciated front and rear rims. We are moving non-stop with the will of optimizing our products and today we are proud to launch our new Duke Baccara SLS II road range featured these top technologies.

We are growing and we also moved to another building this summer, but do not worry : we are still based in Vendée, close to Le Puy du Fou.

6TERSSince 2019, MTB rims profiles are differentiated as we do not ask the rims the same qualities while riding :A front wheel must give grip, be light, stiff and handy.A rear wheel must be more comfortable, tronger and offer more efficiency.

Thus the front and rear wheels have different profiles and lay-ups.In collaboration with the Absalon brothers, the 6TERS front and rear profiles complement each other for a greater efficiency in the trails.Many of you are aware of different needs because you are already using different section tires at front and rear wheel.For all 3 XC, AM and Enduro ranges, the Duke 6TERS concept offers a wider front rim than the rear rim for more grip and stiffness. Its weight is optimized for robustness.The rear profile is reworked with a reduced section, with a new carbon fiber layer to improve compliance and increase the impact resistance, the constraints being much more important on the back wheel.

SLS iiAll our carbon MTB rims now benefit from the SLS II manufacturing process, which offers a 10% gain in rim’s weight.This manufacturing process goes even further today as it is now made under dust-free laboratory and no longer requires sanding nor painting.SLS products have an excellent aesthetic appearance, right out of the mold.As no longer painted, the rims can not be scratched.Impact resistance is not left out, since it is also improved by 20%.SLS rims are built from High-Modulus UD carbon fiber only.

Anti-PinchRim’s sidewalls are thickened to prevent cut of tires during impacts.

Designing and manufacturing the lightest carbon rim ever made ? We secretly dreamt of this all together. Well, we di dit. Here is the Duke Lucky Jack SLS Ultra, pushing even more the carbon engineering limits. 275 grams of pure technology.

Performance. Precision. Passion. These are the key words that summarize the lives of athletes involved at a World Cup class level. Team Scott-Creuse riders Oxygène Guéret have been cruising the Olympic Cross-Country World Cup for many years. Immersion.

Saturday morning. 10:20 am. The tension is spreading in the paddocks. The rain of the previous night made the course slippery. The time is to change or adapt the material. When we face the world-class, nothing should be left to chance; tires, suspension settings, stroke brake levers, gearing, are religiously inspected by our mechanic. World Cup routine actually. Adjustment to the millimeter for a stroke thought to millimeter.

11:00. The recognitions of the circuit will be soon open. I can already hear the sound of crampons on the rollers rising on either side of the teams’ tents. It makes my heart rate going up. «Clack clack» the sound of freshly mounted mud tires on my Lucky Jack 6TERS rims. This slam means that the tubeless tire is well glued against the walls of the rim. This snap also means that one is almost ready to leave for circuit recognition. Objective of the day: memorize all the lines, unlock the body with a few ITs, and of course have fun.

WORLd/CUP

First lap of recognition then we go back to the paddock to change a few important settings. The tire pressure must be adapted to the climatic conditions and the circuit. The suspensions are adjusted.

11:45 is the last round of recognition, we must now be comfortable on this technical and slippery circuit, know it by heart. 1:30 of training is enough to unlock physically. The XCO is 1:30 of racing at 180 bpm with the best riders in the world. The mechanic enters the scene is a real work of goldsmith: each screw is tight torqued, nothing must be forgotten. The bike is ready. It’s time for the pilot to rest. Program of the day is: massages, nap, Netflix.

20:30. After dinner, it’s briefing time: racing tactics, discussion between pilots about lines, the jumps, the competitors. The objective is well in mind, tomorrow will be war.

Race day, maximum concentration, US rap or electro in the ears, motivation and pressure are increasing little by little. This is the last World Cup of the season, we will have to give everything to regret nothing. After eating 3 hours before the race, we join the team on the paddocks. Preparation of bottles, last check-up of tire pressure. 45 minutes before the start, I get on the rollers and put myself in my world.

13:50 is the setting grid, we observe the opponents, the speeds are ready to get out as fast as possible from the grid. The counter is reset.

30 seconds before the start. The tension is rising high and 130 riders are ready to fight. Boum boom, boom boom, boom boom. «Your start whithin the next 15 seconds, watch the lights»

SLS2The Baccara is dead. Long live the Baccara ! After 4 years of good and loyal service, our carbon rim bows out and gives way to his little sister. A smart REvolution.

Hours of 3D design and simulation as well as many aerodynamic tests or resistance were necessary before introducing a new era of carbon road range.

Designed, developed and tested by us, we are also the exclusive owners of the tools for manufacturing these new wheels.They are now available in 6 heights: 36, 42, 48, 56, 65 and 78mm, disc braking or pads, symmetrical or asymmetrical profile.

WEIGHTThanks to the SLS2 technology we have lowered the weight by 10%, due to the use of high modulus fibers and a new process of molding in sealed enclosure with resins of new generation.This process also allows better filtration of vibrations generated by the asohalt. The comfort is improved.

AERORim profile has been redesigned to improve its aerodynamics and stability in all wind conditions. The outer width is larger with 27.6 mm and has a new warhead shape. This reduces aerodynamic drag and thus increases its speed.The wheels are also less sensitive to side wind and the steering more precise, the cyclist feels more confident. The best results are achieved with 25mm tires.

COMFORTThe inside width between hooks is wider with 21 mm. This gives more volume to the tires and improves performance, comfort and cornering grip. A wide rim means being able to use thinner and lighter tires while maintaining the comfort, softness and grip provided by a larger volume of air. The recommended tire widths are 25mm and 28mm, tubeless or tubetype.
