Youth Ministry SUNDAY SCHOOL Sunday Mornings (10:10 a.m.) Senior High Room 125 & Junior High Room 121 UMYF - Sunday Evenings No UMYF this Sunday, unloading pumpkins Wednesday Night CORE Bible Study No CORE this evening Next Wednesday: 6:30 - 7:30 pm Pumpkin Patch Info Pumpkin Patch Student Volunteers By working 10 hours over the course of the Pumpkin Patch students can lower the cost of their Mission Trip from $325 to $150. As an added bonus students can work extra hours to be entered into a drawing for some amazing perks for their entire Mission Trip team. Students that work fifteen hours will receive a $5 Sonic card at the start of Mission Trip and a youth T-Shirt. Students that work twenty hours will be entered into a drawing to win a Fast Pass for all shower times while on Mission Trip. This Fast Pass will enable the student's entire team to be first in line during shower times for the whole week. Students working 20 hours will also receive a $10 Sonic card and $50 off the price of Mission Trip. This year we want to make sure that our student workers are spaced out and that critical times are covered so it is important that students sign up ahead of time using the sign-up binder located in the hallway at the Pumpkin Patch display. Next Pumpkin Unloading is this Sunday! Childrens Ministry Our Wednesday night Base Camp program is still in desperate need of a 2nd & 3rd grade teacher. Our kids programming can only accommodate families if it is appropriately staffed. Please consider a short term commitment so that all of our kids can participate in the awesome programming happening on Wednesday nights! Guitar Circle Join us tomorrow, Oct. 11 th at 7:00 pm in the youth rooms. Open to anyone with at least a basic knowledge of the primary chords (G, D, C, E, etc…) but novices should feel free to come and pick up a few new chords or picking patterns or those who play percussion instruments. KIDS AGAINST HUNGER volunteer opportunities If you are interested in volunteering for an upcoming off-site packing event, please save the date. Wednesday, November 7th - There is a national corporation that wants to host KAH packing events at 5 different locations throughout the U.S. Many KAH satellites will be participating. Our own KAH - Tarrant County will be participating by going to the corporation's DFW site. We do not have the specific info quite yet. Please save the date. Starting this Sunday (Oct. 14) the kids of SJA will begin to learn the songs for our Christmas play, The Christmas Express. Their Sunday morning attendance is crucial to our preparedness. Please mark your calendar for these performances on Dec. 23 rd & Dec. 24 th . More information about these performances in the near future. SJA Candace Payne, Chewbacca Mom,shows us how to be full of Joy using scripture, humor, and wisdom. This is a 7 week study led by Theresa Wright. We will meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 (room 152) and will be repeated Thursday mornings at 10:30 (room 124). There are sign-up sheets in the hallway this Sunday. (Oct 17th & 18th) Music quartet with Lavinia Williams (SJA Member) This new music ministry is for those who can no longer attend church because of health or other reasons. We will have a quartet visit him/ her in homes, hospital rooms, hospice centers or wherever the need is. This ministry is not just for our church family. If you know someone who would like a visit, contact Linda Formagus at 817-468-8484 ext. 303. This year, we will be serving hot dogs, bags of chips/cookies with a soda. Please consider picking up one of the filing items for donation next time you are at the grocery store: Donations will be collected on the counter in the kitchen. Thanks for your help! 1. BRING CANDY- there is a candy box set up in the church narthex, please pick up a bag of candy to donate next time you do your grocery shopping! 2. SIGN UP TO DECORATE YOUR TRUNK - We need help passing out candy, running carnival games, preparing food, and smiling faces to greet those in our community! This event requires a lot of hands, so if you are planning on bringing a child, we ask that you also sign-up to volunteer. Sign-ups are on the candy table. A prize will be awarded to the best decorated trunk! Please be prepared to move your trunk decor inside due to chance of rain. Volunteer sign-up sheets are in the hallway on the candy table. Sign up this Sunday. Join us for trunk-or-treat this year on October 31st, from 6-8pm. Attention Small Groups and Sunday School classes! Family Fun Day is October 20 th from 11am - 2pm. Everyone at the church looks forward to do this great day of fun, fellowship and most importantly, outreach to our community. We are asking you to discuss what booth or activity your group would like to do this year. Look for the sign-up table in the hallway.
