In solidarity with the Holy See and cathedrals, basilicas, and churches all over the world, St. Helen Parish has designated the vestibule door closest to the paver entrance and steps as our symbolic “Door of Mercy.” The Door will be “sealed” (ribboned off) at the end of the 10:30 Mass on Sunday, November 22—the Feast of Christ the King—until the start of the 10:30 Mass on Sunday, December 13—the Third Sunday of Advent. On that day, Pope Francis will open the sealed holy door at the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome, and designated Doors of Mercy in dioceses around the world will be opened to mark the beginning of the JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY. OUR PARISH SYMBOL FOR THE YEAR OF MERCY: The Bleeding Heart flower repre- sents the heart chakra, which is the wellspring of love, warmth, compassion, and joy located in the center of the chest at the heart level.
