Although it’s usually—but not always—easier to predict the number of users for business apps, a good, viral, consumer app can easily overwhelm a data center, and your brand can take a big hit. Services like Insta-gram and Twitter process tens of thousands of posts each minute. And Google fields a whopping 700,000 searches every 60 seconds. Prepare yourself for suc-cess. As mobile apps access more customer and enterprise data, authentication and identity are increasingly crucial. Users are frustrated by a proliferation of pass-words, and businesses struggle with security and compliance. Just as consumer social platforms like Facebook can manage consumer identities across multiple websites, companies need a single identity across all their own apps.
