Thes is The typical courthouse within todays society is based around a
very strict set of principles dening adjacencies, circulation, security, and hierarchy. These buildings waste a great amount of space by having many rarely used areas and circulation paths within the building. By implementing temporary inatable rooms and paths, these courthouses could have a much more ecient use of space. With a building having so many uses and purposes, it is necessary that it have many dierent specied spaces. However, with so many dierent uses, these specied spaces are not always used . By turning these rarely used spaces into temporary inated spaces , the courthouse could have a much more ecient use of space in and around the building. These temporary inatables could help with security of the scale of the block, the site, the building, a oor, a pathway, and even a room. With the ability to have a changing plan and section within the space, the opportunity for new spatial relationships is always present. This theory of employing temporary spaces alongside the permanent infrastructure could be applied in a variety of ways in programs extending beyond the courthouse. All spa c es within a building need not be perma nent a nd this projec t urges to be a n exa mple of us ing these tec hniques to a c hieve the most ef f ic ient us e of s pa c e poss ible.
