Chapter 1• In the beginning was the Word. • The next day John saw Jesus and said, “Behold! The
Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” • Again the next day, John stood with two of his disciples
and said “Behold the Lamb of God!” • The two disciples followed Jesus. They remained with
Him (it was about the 10th hour.) One of the two was Andrew. He brought his own brother Simon to Jesus.
• The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee and He found Philip. Philip found Nathaniel.
Chapter 2 • On the 3rd day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee.
Jesus turned water into wine.• After this He went to Capernaum with His mother, His
brothers and His disciples and did not stay many days.• The Passover of the Jews was at hand and Jesus went
to Jerusalem to the temple. Jesus said He would raise the temple in 3 days. The Jews said it took 46 years to build the temple.
• Many believed when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover during the feast.
Chapter 3 • A man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus a ruler of the
Jews, came to Jesus by night.• John had not yet been thrown into prison.
Chapter 4 • Jesus departed Judea to go to Galilee. He sat by the well
about the 6th hour. He talked with the Samaritan woman. He told His disciples there was 4 months until the harvest. He stayed in the city 2 days.
• When Jesus came to Cana of Galilee, a certain nobleman had a son who was sick in Capernaum. The fever left the boy at the 7th hour.
Chapter 5 • There was a feast of the Jews. • A certain man had an infirmity 38 years. • Jesus healed Him on the Sabbath.
Chapter 6 • The Passover, a feast of the Jews was near. • When evening came (after feeding the 5000) His
disciples went down to the sea. It was dark. • The following day, the people were on the other side of
the sea. • From that time many of His disciples went back and
walked with Him no more.
Chapter 7 • The Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. • About the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the
temple and taught. • On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus spoke
of living water.
Chapter 8 • Early in the morning He came again into the temple.
The woman caught in adultery was brought to Him. • When talking about Abraham, the Jews said “You are not
yet 50 years old.”
Chapter 9 • It was a Sabbath when Jesus made clay and opened the
eyes of the man who was born blind.
Chapter 10 • It was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem • And the season was winter.
Chapter 11 • Jesus stayed in the place where He was 2 more days
after hearing Lazarus was sick.• Jesus spoke of 12 hours in the day. • Lazarus was in the tomb 4 days.
Chapter 12 • Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany.
Mary anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair.
• The next day a great multitude came to the feast. They took branches of palm trees. Jesus sat on a young donkey.
Chapter 13 • Before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knew that His
hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father.
• Supper being ended the devil put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him.
• Jesus rose from supper and washed the disciples’ feet. • Judas went out immediately and it was night.• Not really any places/times in 14, 15, 16, and 17.
Chapter 18 • Jesus went across the Brook Kidron to a garden, where
he was met by Judas & a detachment. He was arrested and taken to Annas, then Caiaphas.
• Peter was first outside the courtyard, then inside.• Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium,
and it was early morning. But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.
Chapter 19 • Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover • and about the 6th hour. And Pilate said to the Jews,
“Behold your King!” • Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the
bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath • (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate
that their legs might be broken. • So there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews’
Preparation Day, for the tomb was nearby.
Chapter 20• The first day of the week Mary Magdalene went
to the tomb early, while it was still dark. • Then, the same day at evening, being the first
day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
• And after 8 days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said “Peace to you!”
Chapter 21• They went out and immediately got into the boat,
and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
• Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.”• Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom
Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?”
