It makes us better adjusted and less stressed." This procla- mation came from Melinda Wenner Moyer in her article, "The Serious Need for Play" in Scientific American Mind (Volume 25, Number 2). In concluding this article, Moyer noted... "Many parents today believe they are acting in their kids' best interest when they swap free play for what they see as valuable learning activities. Some mothers and fathers may also hesitate to let their sons and daughters play outside unattended, and they may fret about the possibility of scrapes and broken bones that sometimes arise during rambunctious play....Although those parental instincts are natural, protecting children simply defrays the costs to later, when those same children have difficulty in dealing with an unpredictable, complex world....A better 2015 systematic review reported that risky outdoor play - climbing on high playground structures, for in- stance, or engaging in rough-and-tumble play - was associated with better physical health among kids, not worse, and that it was also linked to greater creativity and resilience. "Parents should let children be children - not just because it should be fun to be a child but because denying youth's unfettered joys keeps kids from de- veloping into inquisitive, creative creatures." John Kenney Child Care News

Our Annual KidStuff Book Fundraiser will begin on Wednes-day September 7

th.

These books are filled with local deals and lots of valuable coupons! Just using a few of

the hundreds of coupons will make the book free for anyone you sell it to. These books are great for personal use, as well as gifts, so think Christmas, Birthdays, or Back to School time, etc. All funds raised will benefit our student activity events that we hold right here at school through-out the year. The money earned replaces a stu-dent activity fee that many schools charge as an additional fee. If every family sells just five (5) books we should have enough money to fund our specials for the entire year. Also, if you sell five books, you will get one for free! If you do not want to participate in our fundraiser, you can donate to the student activity fund in-stead. Keep in mind that with all of the activities that we provide throughout the year we spend approxi-mately $50.00 per student per year.

General Reminders:

Please try to bring your child to school by 9:00 A.M.

so they can receive the maximum program ad-

vantage as well as not to disrupt the educational

program for the rest of the children.

When you enter your child’s classroom each morn-

ing please immediately wash your hands and your

child’s hands. This way we can reduce the amount

of germs that are spread in our classrooms.

If you child is going to be absent please let Natalia

know the by 10 am the day before so their lunch

can be canceled. Lunch Credit will be given to chil-

dren on the hot lunch program if a child is absent

and has called out before 10:00 A.M. on the day

prior. Lunches that are not canceled will be labeled

with your child’s name and placed in the refrigera-

tor for you to take home when they return to school

Please continue to write your child’s name and the

date on their sippy cups and all items in their lunch

boxes. This is a NJ State licensing requirement and

we can be cited if this is not done.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Chuck-e-Cheese Fundraiser on 7/22/16, with your help we raised $287.90 for our Student Activity Fund!!

Thank you to everyone who came to our Stay and Play Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 25th . Although it drizzled a bit for a short period of time, we had a great turn out! We had 55families in attendance which totaled 165 people! Everyone enjoyed their ice cream sundaes on the playground and the children really enjoyed playing with their friends and families.
