Infrastructure Flood Update August 15, 2019

BLMS Infrastructure is currently working on a priority plan for homes flooded due to the extreme

amount of rain in our community. Please bare with us until our staff are able to complete the home assessments required and develop a Priority project time line for flood repairs.

PLEASE NOTE:

The process to receive assistance or be reimbursed for any material, supplies or work is as follows:

1) All FLOODING home emergency repairs NEED to be approved by the Infrastructure Manager/Administrator. Please ensure you are on the list if your home has been flooded. 2) Once approved, a home assessment will be completed to see what qualifies for a home

emergency repair. 3) Once step 2 is completed we will include the assessment in our priority plan as stated above.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we have 50+ homes affected by the

flooding.

Metis Settlement Harvesting, Effective September 1, 2019

There are new changes to the policy surrounding the Metis Settlement Harvesting Agreement with the Province of Alberta. Current harvesters will be processed through MSGC registry and added onto the BLMS registry, and members can apply through the settlement.

Applications can be picked up at the Administration office, and returned to the Land and Membership clerk. There are 4 different harvesting areas where you can be registered as a Metis harvester.

Members must prove Historic connection (family tree) to Alberta pre1900 in reference to the area applied for with in Alberta.
